Re: So, official orders from devs
What are you guys talking about. Currently, as in this build, pretty much every actor can stay airborne indefinitely while still holding an assault rifle, a pistol, and a couple grenades.
Reduced jetpack would add a whole 'nother dimension to CC. -Snipers would actually be useful -Heavy weapons would need to be deployed more intelligently -Medic drone would be useful for assault -Squad tactics would be viable -Cover would have some semblance of use
As is, whenever I play with friends, it just ends up being a constant war of attrition, taking 1 actor from each team and buzzing around in no-man's land and later the losing guy's base, until one guy is out of money.
I mean, of course there is some sort of limit, I'd say the actor should be able to get two or three actor lengths above him while holding a moderate payload, but walking should get some use.

I would think that making jetpack bursts use more fuel would be more reasonable.

*Sigh* All you people want is 'stretety' and 'tactics'... You'll end up ruining CC. -____-; Jetpack is fine as it is, topic never brought up.

Re: So, official orders from devs
At this point, I think the "method" of jetpack bursting has become so ingrained that it's really not something that should be touched on anymore. I mean, most bases are laid out with vertical shafts with the assumption that you will "burstpack" up it, rather than try to use the stairs, which are usually a base decoration or afterthought, if they're even included at all.
Also, without the bursting, it'd be even more impossible to control actors that already spin wildly out of control with the slightest forces acting upon it in air. I can't tell you how many times I've had to time jet bursting whilst my actor was spinning wildly to prevent him from flying off screen or into a dropship.

Okay. I'm going through this whole topic one post at a time to fix some of this stuff. Come B24, hopefully, it will meet most people's expectations.

Don't listen to the jetpack argument! TLB, trust your ♥♥♥♥ instinct and don't implement the wrong changes based on stupid people in this thread!

Come on, I have a brain. The jetpacks are staying as they have been. The robots can fly for way too long though.

Re: So, official orders from devs
i think they might be too light for their jetpack.. their body only weighs 36 kilos.

Re: So, official orders from devs
Yeah, they just need some weight. Overshoot your angle too much and they turn into metal pinwheels.

Re: So, official orders from devs
For actors to be stable while flying they have to have most of their weight in their lower body.
Otherwise it's pretty easy to spin out of control.

Re: So, official orders from devs
Give ACrabs stable flying capabilities, it's like placing 50 kilos of C4 under warhog on a moderate grade slope and trying to get to land on 8x 8 feet platform.

How about a burstless jetpack (So it can't be abused) But only on the currently jetpackless dreadnoughts. They currently get stuck too often, and, are honestly too immobile to be used efficiently.

The dready is ok right now, for me. It isn't designed to fly in the first place: a tall, fat, clumsy barrel isn't the easiest thing to fly. Which could be troublesome for Prom to redo the looks of it. We can't just strap a jetpack sprite onto a dready and say 'this is how they can fly'. However, the medic drone and the hunter(?) drone really needs a proper flying system.
