How do you constructively condem someone's insulting?

But anyways, Miles is right. I apolgize for the outburst but I'm from the Dwarf Fortressse forums and it's extremely frowned upon to insult the Devs there.

What you do is you don't sink to their level.

As for insulting the Devs, I see.

Actually, I don't.
Never been to the Dwarf Fortress forums.

There's a difference between insulting the devs and contributing one's opinion. I really haven't taken anything said here as an insult to any of the devs (aside from jabs at numgun, but that almost seemed more like gentle ribbing anyway). Works in progress thrive on input to become the best they can be, and if the people kept their mouths shut about the long reload times, it could hurt the final product. I don't expect CC's reload times to be shorter because of this thread. I don't expect them to be longer, either. I expect weapons to be tweaked accordingly and a neutral ground found to base future changes off of with this thread kept in mind.

On that, Smitehappy, I think the only person who's really doing any bitching here is you, albeit in good interest. I respect your intentions and reasons, I just think you're poorly executing them. :???:

P.S. That's a really cool avatar.

Devs = Data and Prom
People who develop content: TLB, Bubs, Numgun

It's a clear and MAJOR distinction. Numgun is doing nothing more than what any other modder does, and he's doing it worse than many.

the point of long reload times is mainly for making the game balenced, which is great keep it up dev team! if you play the game how it is meant to be played, without mods or stupid amounts of money, it gets pretty freakin fun. however the most important thing about balence is that it makes multiplayer much more enjoyable. bottom line is, if you want hilarious imbalanced crap just to mess around with DOWNLOAD SOME MODS.

Post Re: Petition to end long reload times
I blame the pain meds and extreme amount of Jello that I've been consuming for the last 2 days.

But my point still stands, if Numgun is a bad modder then why did Data ask him to help?

Anyways, I'll be more constructive. I know some or most people hate the reload times but some of us like it too, like myself. It's one of those issue that's hard to get resolved because it's just a matter of preference, like actually mining for gold or just using money grenades and etc.

So why don't we propose a ompromise of sorts. Get Data to put in an option that effects reload time, like the option to change build times in RTS games to speed up the early game?

I would not say numgun is bad at general modding.

He is not too good at balancing.

Also, Data didn't ask him to help, Data asked IRC who good modders were. And then picked based on that; it was not like he graded numgun's work himself.

stay away from the diggers, not the stupid people, although you should do that too.

There still technically developers. The difference is:
Data & prom = Game developers
TLB, Bubs, Numgun = Content developers.

I seriously think that the content developers should be cycled through build by build and things that suck, or are redundant should be scrapped, good content kept, and change Content devs. cycle rinse repeat. currently the majority of the vanilla content is junk. The actors are nice, the dropships are nice. most of the tools and bombs are nice, and some of the guns are nice. the rest is junk.

Notice we've gone FOREVER without getting more vanilla content shields. thats it, this thread has motivated me to do so many things:

The long reload time on the Uber Cannon made me make a Flak 2.0 and its damn awesome.

The lack of new shields has inspired me to make Coalition/Ronin/Dummy shields for the 2nd mod making contest.

the shovel not doing damage made me make a hand saw.

I'm gonna go play GMod for a bit, Vent, and then get to work on those shields. What is it with these threads of people ranting about things being broken motivating me to make ♥♥♥♥. what is this, reverse-trolling? no that would imply that your being nice... Sideways trolling, that's it...
