Why the hostility?
I've been observing the forums for a bit now...and I'd just like to ask...
Why is it that most (most, not all) modders on these forums behave in self-entitled, impatient, intolerant, deprecating manners that act as if playing and modding an indie-game like CC makes them some hyper-intelligent underground click of gaming fighting the casual/corporate agenda...and the other half are just people that like to play games with legitimate ideas and concerns that just get constantly shot down by the aforementioned group?
From what I've heard you guys have had several excellent modders over the years leave...can I strike a guess as to why? And can I strike a guess as to why your forum has somehow acquired actual enemies? I mean as soon as some newcomer makes a mistake or puts out a query for something they've never heard, but I'm sure you have a hundred times, you practically lynch them. I'd hate to imagine what you do to reprimand your own. You act as if these forums belong to yourselves and impose your intimidating demeanor on people who just want to explore the game, or even simply discuss things you have a different opinion on!
Not only that, but I'm sure to some extent this behavior has hurt the progression/growth of CC and its reputation. My question is, why are so many here so hostile and overly-protective about something that doesn't even belong to you? Surely somebody else is concerned over such unwarranted behavior?
And I'd also like to finish with saying I am well within the forum rules in asking such a question.

We can add rules at any time, in the event of a 'special case'. Do not think you have found a loophole in the rules, we will simply change them. Anyways, I can't speak for the forum, but I am only hostile to those who are idiots.

It's how they all evolved, just act like everyone is a snake made of fire that can shoot napalm poison from it's eyes and you'll do fine.

Re: Why the hostility?
I personally get miffed when people ask a question that has been asked and answered three topics down.
And really, if you think this place is mean now, you should have seen it a year to a year and a half ago (when I joined). It's actually gotten more tolerant of new people asking the same question over and over again.
Also, due to our brand of welcome, you will notice a distinct lack of posters who cannot write worth a damn.

He was banned because mods sux. That's why he stopped modding. He's started visiting more frequently recently actually. There hasn't been anyone else sorry to tell you. Even Whitty, who is constantly put down and notified of others' hatred toward him hasn't left. It's got no effect really rather than filtering out those who prefer the democratic agenda or are completely dumb.

In my opinion, as you register it should make a huge pop-up on the screen that's simply a red link named "SEARCH FIRST" and it should be java-scripted to it bounces around the screen randomly playing "You spin me 'round".

Didn't know FP did that. It would still be mildly entertaining.

Re: Why the hostility?
I'm on another message board (as a moderator) where we are totally tolerant. It is terrible.
We've had a huge influx of new members (which is partly my fault with the whole signature banner link thing) and they are all idiots. And there is nothing I can do about it.
Half of our veteran community and actual good members have recently given up and left because of the huge wave of rubbish. There are a few nuggets of gold in the pile, yes, but most of it is garbage. I was someone who was initially supportive of the admins making our rules much more lenient, but now I'm greatly in favour of making them harsher again so that all these new people shape up, and as soon as our server problems are fixed and we get back off of the temporary board we are using I'm going to draw up a big reform plan.
Trust me, this community is not a bad model.
