The Orb Is a fully functional UFO-like object, and is directed using the wsad keys. The Orb is the first of its kind, and becomes very useful for traveling. In addition to its amazing traveling abilites, it also has very destructive turrets that fire plasma in all directions. The turrets are fired using the arrow keys, and will destroy anything in its path.

The Orb can be detonated using the "f" key, and destroys anything near the area of detonation.



W - accelerate upwards
S - accelerate downwards
A - accelerate left
D - accelerate right

R - complete stop

F - Detonate

Things to fix:

1.) Disappearing
2.) Going through terrain

Edit: Fixed, works now
Edit2: Thanks to zalo and grif, it is fully functional without bugs. No terrain destruction, no disappearing.


Creds: TheLastBanana and Daman for helping me find code and helping me with my lua skills. Zalo and grif for helping with the bugs.


Last thing: I will be adding things to this, including new units and such, so please don't go making mods very similar to this. Thanks!

The controls looks tricky, but i'll test anyway.

Referring to an instance ("Civilian Stuff2") to copy from that hasn't been defined!
in The Orb.rte/Scripted Objects.ini at line 571!


What the hell? Does Civilian Stuff2 even exists?

Aaannyway i tried it and the controls are very good. Shooting and moving with it is pretty fun, reminds me of some arcade game i was playing when i was young.

Well, someone had to make a proper gunship with lua.
The controls work great, and the "bug" that makes it dig through the ground is very useful at sending dummies plummeting through holes all the way to the bottom of the map.
The green glows also fit the thing perfectly.

Ill prolly make a gunship that fires bullets out of it soon, but yet again, this is a WIP. As for civilian stuff2, should be in there. Lemme check

To fix the error with it disappearing try getting the scene width, and then if the orb's position X is over that setting it to 0.

That's probably the problem; I wasn't sure what exactly you meant when you were talking about it on IRC.

Also you could probably prevent it from going underground with the GetAltitude() function.
