That way you won't lose your game, and it's also a lot easier to put the game to the side. lol, I remember this "boss mode" thing from commander keen, funny stuff. But anyways, Esc to go to main menu, and Esc again to go back to the game. For closing the game fast; Alt + F4. Good? Improvements/Suggestions? + a checkbox in the options menu. When checked, does what you said. When unchecked, works like it is now.

I've never encountered a game other than this one where escape at the main menu closes the game. There are quite a few, often the case with FPSs I don't agree that this game has to fall in with that menu paradigm although it can be a pain in the arse when you want to skip the intro and forget to press space instead of esc. This was a problem for me until I adjusted as i was tweaking some .inis and wanted to test

If anything there should be a message asking if you want to exit the game instead of outright closing it.
Many times I went to pause the game and ended up closing it.

Or everyone could just use gamepads and press START to pause the game. Oh yeah. I have a bug(?) for my CC. Whenever the intro appears, I press Esc and it exits the game. It only happened to me for this build. That a new feature or something?

Try the space bar, because... y'know, the button that exits your game when you push it has the tendency to exit the game when you push it.

I don't like using the gamepad.
And on almost every other game I've played, the pause button is also the unpause button, so it's really confusing when, in CC, the unpause button is the OH MY GOD CLOSE IT NOW button.

*Pauses game pressing ESC* "Come look at this amazing base defense i've set up" *Presses ESC again* "...." "You did it again LOL" "FFS!"
Oh and the intro. *Presses ESC* ...Exited game... *Retry and presses Space bar* Sigh.

This is my exact problem, I have a habit of always pressing ESC to pause and pressing again to unpause.

Re: Suggestion: Don't let pressing escape close the game.
I whole heartedly agree with this, I found and bought the game today, and so far ive paused and unpaus.. oh crap the game 5 times, including closing it during the intro a whole load of times (yes I'm very slow to understand these things, im a gamer at heart and some commands are just ingrained in my fingers with no need for attention from my brain ..) please fix this bug asap =P

also, i've noticed that if i quit completely out of CC using ESC, it still leaves CC running as a process in the task manager.

I really wish escape didn't close the game! I definitely support this suggestion. It is too annoying losing everything mid-game!
