Re: CC and Non-indies
I was having an argument with someone the other day who was telling me that CC could have multiplayer and terrain destruction if "they" just optimized it more. However, instead of backing that statement up at all, he just kept saying "Red Faction". I've never played the game before, so I didn't really know what to say to that. Was pretty annoying, needless to say.

Re: CC and Non-indies
They're two different animals. Red Faction had minimally destructible terrain (blast radius = hole) and said physics for eaten-away terrain were rather lacking. The chunk of rock (which could kill you, I'll give them that) acted like it was made of thin plastic and would bounce a bit when it landed, probably to flip end over end and settle on some other side.

Re: CC and Non-indies
Red faction has netcode that probably works the same way most netcode does: you have a series of preplaced objects and then everything players do to affect them is just sent as a little bit of information. All physics processing is local, and lag can cause different machines to process differently, resulting in completely different buildings on different computers.

Woo! CC wins! (BECAUSE 3D IS NOT BETTER THAN 2D)

Re: CC and Non-indies
When ♥♥♥♥ is destroyed in Red Faction, is it destroyed in different ways on different computers, and does it matter in which way it ends up being destroyed?

Re: CC and Non-indies
New redfaction on NOT EVEN close to cc. The older ones were closer. Because: A. they both use little to no stress physics. B.they kick ass c.Encourage Terrain destruction to achieve objectives. d.Kick ass e.Kick a lot of ass f. God plays them both when he gets bored smiting humans, and causing wars, fires, floods, and terrorist acts. Yes god gets bored of telling the people to bomb North America, and about any other country that is not Islamic.

I compared both games but never said it was a competition or wich one was better...

New ONE dude, there is only the NEW ONE! ONE! I WAS TALKING ABOUT THE OLDER 2! Saying THE OLDER ONES are more like CC because they are. New one is NOTHING like CC hardly at all. and I know I am right, because in RF1/2 the ground/buildings destroy like they do in cortex command (more then they do in Gureilla). Quote: I compared both games but never said it was a competition or wHich one was better... THIS WAS A JOKE! (I also fixed your spelling too.)

Re: CC and Non-indies
You guys are dumb, CC's destruction is nothing like RF's destruction. RF makes "no space" areas everytime a piece of ground is destroyed. IIRC this is how Liero and Worms does it to. It's very light physics wise since the only thing it does is create a suitable amount of "nospace" everytime an explosion goes off

Amazing 3D (L4D, Red Faction, Crysis) is better than CC 2D. Okay, number 1- The PS1 is awesome. Number 2- I didn't mean GRAPHICS. I MEAN ACTUAL DIMENSIONS OF MOVEMENT. AND CC IS A COMPLETELY NEW GAME GENRE MIX THING THERE'S NO POINT COMPARING IT TO OTHER GAMES! The destruction is COMPLETELY DIFFERENT to anything I've ever seen before. Have you ever seen a wall disintegrate into individual pixels in any other game? That's because CC WORKS DIFFERENTLY. COMPARISONS SUCKS. (CAPS LOCK BECAUSE I'M TOO LAZY TO USE BOLD OR ITALICS AND CAPS ARE FUN TO WRITE IN)

And 3D think Voxelstein, but with more Physics. I support this idea. It'd make a scene less messier with 1-pixel gibs all over the place. Voxelstein was awesome too.
