Cauterizer - Medical Flamethrower
The Cauterizer medical flamethrower burns its targets alive, keeping them alive. Due to the entirely positive effect of this tool, the flame is displayed in your soldiers' HUD as being a green gas with green crosses. Aim for the target's center mass for the highest effectiveness; actors within a distance of the crosses are healed, and more-so depending on how close they are within this distance. 100 crosses are expelled by each magazine, along with ineffective gas particles. If patients are grouped up, they can be healed together, because the flame phases right through targets as it does its job. You heal yourself the same way you may go about killing yourself with a regular flamethrower, shoot the ground beneath you, and the hot gases will rise to burn you. It's quite durable, as it has a breakaway polymer housing to shield it. Notes: --I think there was already some other flamethrower with this name, but it's too fitting for a flamer-style healing device to not use. --Does not actually remove wounds, sorry for any confusion, it just restores health. Re: Cauterizer - Medical Flamethrower
It certainly heals, but a bit misleading as it did not stop my profuse bleeding. You'd think a cauterizer would weld those bullet holes shut pretty fast! Then again, the wounds were from a zealotian energy beam, which should also have been bloodless. CC is so unrealistic sometimes, don't you think?

Re: Cauterizer - Medical Flamethrower
It doesn't stop wounds, I know. I worded the OP suggesting otherwise, and I apologize for that. I was meaning to explain why a flamethrower could be a healing device.
But I was thinking about how the replacer/regenerator concept could work without needing to expect all the devices it would bring back, and I thought maybe if one could gib the actor, delete particles within a range, [his gibs] replace him, and then add all the nearby devices [his previous body's inventory] to the new body's inventory, maybe it would work.
If that might work, I would try to add it so that the cauterizer does that when you get over-healed, instead of putting you at 100 health exactly.
Edit: Nevermind, it would probably have to expect them to put them back in their inventory? But I think gibbing and deleting the gibs for regenerating would make the actor drop his inventory on regeneration, right? Then it could just be picked up. That would be an inconvenience rather than a loss, at least.

Re: Cauterizer - Medical Flamethrower
May I suggest a Medical Bunker with a pinned actor from the ceiling? Perfect medi-robot with lots of claws and so on.

Re: Cauterizer - Medical Flamethrower
Yeah, a medgun ceiling turret would be a cool way to do a medbunker. I may do that.
It needs to shoot your guys, and your guys need to not shoot it, and the enemy guys need to shoot at it. Maybe it doesn't get hit by MOs, and is on the enemy team, and it's accompanied by another actor on your team that functions as it's weak point, so the enemies fire at it, and via Lua, killing the weak point actor kills the healer.
But decent healing function comes first, that regeneration inventory problem really needs a solution. But if it's restricting TLB, then Data will likely fix it sooner or later, so devising a workaround would only be useful temporarily. I'll still probably try if I get into Lua though. Ambition regarding that is more reasonable now, in a way, since there are Lua docs.
But what I don't get is why the medi-robot would have lots of claws...?
Thanks, whitty.

Re: Cauterizer - Medical Flamethrower
Azukki, maybe set so that the medic actor points and shoots at nearby friendly actors? I'm sure lua can do this. And I think Seraph meant medical arms with tiny surgery tools and syringes and whatnot when he said claws. Yeah, that must be it.
Now where's that nurse actor? XD

I love this, even over the other heal guns! Now to make a Sick Burner...
PS : I brought victim killed by a Dear Sister back to life, the challenge is how fast you switch to the Cauterizer. But due to the nature of the nature of the engine, it died with 100 health.

Re: Cauterizer - Medical Flamethrower
I have one question. Does it go all buggy if you have more than one in the map?
