This doesn't work for B23? I play Skirmish on Grasslands, then when it goes into the game, it's just a black screen. I removed the Lightsaber .rtes and I can play again... Weird...

That simply means he was the first to come up with the idea, that still doesn't mean eveyone else is just copying his lightsaber. Obviously he deserves credit for the idea but there's a difference between being inspired and copying.

Except he used the exact method that is used EXACTLY by everyone else up to and INCLUDING numgun.

The muzzle flashes even look almost exactly the same.

If you ever saw Piezo's lightsaber you'd know what I mean.

Alright I get what you mean now, more than the technique was copied, but if the shovel was released on it's own in mods then yes it would be just a resprite, but it was with the official content along with the whole ronin faction, and if that was released in mods(the ronin faction) it would be a legitimate mod, whereas this lightsaber recolour is just a recolour.

My point is that numgun copied user generated content without any even attempt at say asking for permission or credit to the original author.

It's also not the first time he's done this. And I'm not about to let him play it off.

We have this discussion every time someone makes a piezo style melee weapon.

He did not steal the code, he just used the same technique.
You might as well say that everyone who used actors fired from guns as homing missiles copied the first person to do that, or that people who used thrusterless crafts as bombs were copying from someone else.

this causes the 'black screen of death' error...you can't enter into skirmish. i think theres a thread on it in support, go have a look; i think this is related to preset names for mods

I suddenly feel the urge to re-create my lightsabre. You know, the one you didn't have to swing, you just turned on.

I remember when both lightsaber concepts came out, the muzzle flash one and the one that was later used to create the laser bayonet. I've actually always wanted someone to make a lightsaber that has both features. One that has a continuous damaging beam, but when you fire it the swing has slightly extended range and does more damage like a critical hit or something. Two years and I still can't be arsed to do this stuff myself, but Lua really makes me want to give something a shot even if I don't release it.

ok everyone shut up about the recolor!!! its really annoying to watch... and yeah ill make someother recoulers if you like, but i cant get them to work in 1 .rte file...It gives me too many errors to sort out! ill try to make an invisible lightsaber some time....shouldnt be too hard....but i will need some way to tell if its there like a white mark when u swing with it like a little flash or something...


and yes there are black lightsabers!! im curently working on a purple, yellow, and white lightsaber.

Well Piezo didn't update his lightsaber (which was the single biggest breakthrough in modding history ever*)
for build 23 SO WE'LL USE THESE INSTEAD.
Actually, these are copied off the current official content, so I think that Piezo should be credited in Cortex Command itself!

*Biggest breakthrough not related to something Data had done. It totally revolutionised melee weapons, they used to all just be short range diggers. HE'S A GENIUS.

lol crazy...they are piesco originals yes... converted changed the code a little and resprited them...they are good diggers now too...and they look alot better
