Really, on any topic there will eventually be a bunch of people saying that it causes horrible side effects.
I highly doubt that they'd seriously hinder a wide-scale vaccination program however.

99% of the paranoia about vaccinations is made up on the spot, the only problem is this: All a vaccination is, is they give you a weaker version of the virus, IE Intentionally infecting you, so that your body creates natural antibodys to fend off a more serious infection. Theoretically the vaccinations could ALSO mutate into a more serious version, which is why the only vaccinations i've ever had are things like M.M.R.s, and if I ever had to Tetanus or rabies. but anyway...

He's correct essentially. The virus is modified to remove fatal symptoms and is administered to patients. Sometimes there are mild ill effects but it is otherwise harmless. The antibodies generated by your body to combat this disease are then stored until they are needed, wherepon they are released to combat the actual disease.

I've never been worried about the virus, I'm just scared that if I get it I will fail all my exams because I have to stay at home, and they will take the mock score which I haven't really been trying at and haven't done much revision. then I'll have to take the year again while all my friends are in the year above (I go college, well 6th form really but just think of it as college).

A virus can mutate to become resistant to a drug in the course of a day. To state the obvious, this happens because its existence is threatened - individuals in the population who do not resist the drug die, the others procreate.

Also, just to clear something up about vaccines - contrary to popular belief, a vaccine is rarely ever a "lesser dose/version of the virus". Usually, vaccines use the denatured (I hesitate to use the word "dead" because viruses are not life) "bodies" of a virus. It's basically an injection of virus corpses. These denatured viruses are incapable of infecting you, reproducing, attacking, anything, but your body's immune system will still try to get rid of them because they are foreign. In learning how to dispose of these denatured viruses, your body becomes better prepared for an attack by the real functioning thing. This process may produce "flu-like symptoms" because "flu-like symptoms" can be caused not by the flu, but by your body's reaction to the flu which can be similar for both contact with functioning flu viruses and denatured flu viruses.

I recently read something complaining about how people in Australia were illogically putting on face masks.
Someone else pointed out that they probably have the normal flu and are being considerate by attempting not to give it to anyone else.

I was reinforcing it or else it wouldn't make as much sense. If I lived in America, ther could be decent reason for face masks depending on area.
