Indeed. Why doesn't Data get everyone to help?

If everyone were to help, it would be a total mess. It's hard to coordinate a large team.

well if you're not as competent as normal devs are.
there are games that had teams of several hundreds of people working on them and they turned out pretty ♥♥♥♥ good.

Actually, a big dev team tends to only take up one floor of an office block.

So nothing, I was just pointing it out. Carry on.

A lot of large dev teams are actually physically within the same space, though. Nobody in DRL is within even 50 miles of each other.

over a certain point they logistically have to be divided.

Okay, still, this is sort of like saying that everyone making mods for Valve should work for Valve on their games. That would kind of turn into a ♥♥♥♥, don't you think?

Re: Build 23: COMING SOON! (as of 12/1/2008)
totally, this game doesn't need more than 4 people in my opinion.
it's indie style and willingness to sacrifice playability and user friendly ways for an experience that strives to be new and innovative.
but valve does kinda sponsor mods in a way... whenever i have a popular source game that gets modded alot downloaded mods pop up in my downloadable list still.

So wait, you're saying that innovation is higher priority than playability? Innovations doesn't mean squat if you have no idea what to do with it.

Re: Build 23: COMING SOON! (as of 12/1/2008)
the game is somewhat broken (beta or whatever, i know... still paid for it) in that the engine itself can be pretty unstable, unpredictable and buggy sometimes when it comes to gameplay. And all that other stuff like not being able to stand on drop ships etc.
you know what i mean and all it means for the player is a higher learning curve.
that unpredictability will always be there, the other stuff probably could be fixed. it's pretty alienating to the player when real elements of a battlefield are introduced, and their brainbot out of nowhere gets nailed by a dropship engine or something.
all of us think that's pretty cool, and we'd reload the mission or get ♥♥♥♥ and be fine with it (depending on how the metagame works). but for casual players it could be too overwhelming.

Re: Build 23: COMING SOON! (as of 12/1/2008)
Well thats too bad. This is not a game for casual gamers. This is a game for those who love the nostalgia of pixel art and chaotic gameplay, not those idiots who demand nothing from a game but shiny graphics.
