first real model in blender (the other one was a pawn chess piece I copied from a tutorial over a year ago)
It looks better in blender than when rendered

Really good for a start, if you have a look in editing in your buttons window you should be able to find a Set Smooth button, that will get rid of the jagged shading on the edges.

Also if you add a modifier to it called Subsurf you can make it add more polys for the render.

Just a couple things to try :)

I know about those but the set smooth and set solid buttons don't seem to work for me, I did try messing with them before rendering but to no avail and as for the subsurf I couldn't remember where it was located (or the name, I remembered it was something begging with s) I looked around a bit in the panels but couldn't find it, I then though I'd just subdivide it a bit but it rendered the same so I got rid of it.

edit: set smooth/solid seem to be working today, maybe I was just doing it wrong at the time.

I was supposed to be making it as a tutorial, but I was too lazy to screenshot my prgress every 5 seconds and explain what I did, a lot of merging verticies and egde work etc happened inbetween and I had to recalculate the vertex normals a couple of times but here's roughly how I made it: http://blendertuts4ya.blogspot.com/

If you think subsurfing a model is key to making it render better what the ♥♥♥♥ are you doing making tutorials.

Are the plants models or sprites? They look very modelish.

You can definitely tell they're not models when you play the game.

there is no subsurfing done, I just wanted the model to render how it looked in edit mode, setting the mesh to smooth displayed it "correctly" wheras before it was set to solid and came out looking rather different.

plus the tutorials were done for a friend but I thought I might as well share them with DRFF as well.

I'll add a special suit of armour to the game with an especially well defined ass just for you.

Then I will pay $100 for this game, assuming I get to watch the surgery.

Then he won't find it hanging around a bunch of trees.

Oh God bubsy I love you so much.

Also the graphics remind me of KotOR, so extra points.
