My cousin that lives in Mexico caught swine flu, not even joking, he's gotten pretty bad although he's probably gonna get better.

updated stats:
154 people confirmed infected, 8 people confirmed to have died from the flu (~150 deaths being investigated in Mexico so far only 7 confirmed). numbers have more than doubled in Canada, Spain and the UK in one day, and have risen in America. in Canada numbers have risen from 6 to 13, 2 to 10 in Spain, 2 to 5 in the UK, 64 to 91 in the US. Numbers haven't risen in New Zealand and Israel. Germany and Austria are now in the ♥♥♥♥ too. Guatemala, South Korea, Peru, Brazil and Australia still can't make their minds up as to whether they actually have cases of the flu or not.

"In Spain, officials confirmed the first case of swine flu in a person who has not travelled to Mexico."

about the phases:
Phase 1: No infections in humans are being caused by viruses circulating in animals.
Phase 2: Animal flu virus causes infection in humans, and is a potential pandemic threat.
Phase 3: Flu causes sporadic cases in people, but no significant human-to-human transmission.
Phase 4: Human-to-human transmission and community-level outbreaks.
Phase 5: Human-to-human transmission in at least two countries. Strong signal pandemic imminent.
Phase 6: Virus spreads to another country in a different region. Global pandemic under way.

also I've heard that the UK has more tamiflu than America, and that the UK has enough to treat ~half its population.

20 cases in the US became +90 in 2 days, with 1 confirmed death.

I have reason to be worried now, but after watching videos of what the CDC is actually doing I am quite impressed and feel safe, I just hope it isn't waterborn because then we're all doomed. Oh wait, water supplies are well guarded and cleaned and such, the only way that can happen is if some ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ breaks a watermain.

I'm happy though, I'm in ohio... only one case ^_^; thats an hours drive away...

so now its like... Do not know if serious...

Just tell me when the US gets a big bloody tear-drop over it so I know to boil my water first.

because I'm a mad scientist,

I went out to a pharmacy, bought a mask, and walked around town a little, just to see how people react.

They don't react well.

EDIT: I did not mean as a victim, to see how people react when they see someone wearing a mask for personal protection.

Hmmm... 1st death in the US was in Texas. To be more exact, in Houston. ♥♥♥♥.

And I couldn't help but laugh when I saw more than half the cases of swine flu in the US were in New York.

That was a Mexican child that had been moved there for treatment though. So far, Texans can rest assured that they haven't keeled over from a wimpy flu.

Apparently the player isn't very smart, they gave it deadly symptoms before getting everybody infected. Now countries are all going to close their borders, airports, and ports before they can kill everyone off.
No, I haven't been playing Pandemic II. Much...

I don't even know what to think anymore, except:

"59,028,184,023rd Case of the Flu reported in Wyoming!"

Ohwait, that more than the total population of the Earth. oops.

Yeah, obbbvs.

Except the countries in that game are total pussies. The second a few thousand people are coughing, they start closing ports. WTF? Do you have any idea how much of a major impact that has on a nation's economy?

But then the game wouldn't be fun, obviously. Still, it raises a point - don't count on the borders getting closed anytime soon. It is an ENORMOUS economical commitment, and will really only be saved as a last resort. What with the state we're already, it'd be pretty ♥♥♥♥.

On the bright side, we're got a ♥♥♥♥ ton of pharmaceutical fat cats, and if they can come up with the right meds at the right price, this might be an economy boosting event for America very close in resemblance to WWII. China, the rising capitalist threat in the east, on the other hand, will have to catch up later.

I spent my first points to remove all symptoms and then add waterborn and drug immunities, it had a 100% empty bar for noticability, and madagascar STILL closed there ports as soon as it went from the US to canada. Japan closed ports when 4 countries got infected. are you just supposed to re-try untill you start in madagascar and then hope a boat goes to japan?

but seriously I'm just gonna sit in my appartment and not do anything for 2 months.... stupid lame flu...
