the first one is pretty good everywhere except the stock, which is an odd shape.. the second one is too boxy.

HOLY CRAP BUBS!!!! For one man projekt that looks so good. That kinda explains the "inactivity" with CC... I wish I could do that..

first real model in blender (the other one was a pawn chess piece I copied from a tutorial over a year ago) It looks better in blender than when rendered

Also if you add a modifier to it called Subsurf you can make it add more polys for the render. Just a couple things to try
