Definitely something interesting going on with this. It's definitely the way an image is read on the internet and how it's read in a paint program.

This is what happened when I took both the girl image, and the forest image and put them on on top of the other, and made the top image's opacity half so you could see both. Then when I saved it and uploaded it, this happened. And I know it's the internet and not just the forums because it looks like this on my PhotoBucket account as well.


This is the same image, but I screen-shotted the image while it was still in the paint program, and cropped that to the size of the actual image, and saved it like the first one.

Windows Picture and Fax viewer views it as it is on the forums, I had to open it in paint to work out what the big deal was!

Also thor, Safari is a browser so bad it's worse than IE: it's hardly compatible with anything.
Get Firefox or Opera or something!

As for replicating it, just use non-web safe colors or something.
