Post IWS-2000
One of my first mods, a Sniper rifle base off a real gun, the "Steyr IWS-2000"

Image

It fires 15mm Armor Piercing Fin Stabilized Discarding Sabot rounds.

Because the Bullet is actually a MOSRotating, it doesn't maul terrain. Which i guess is good.

I've all but done the offsets, which i can't seem to get the hang of.

Hope you like!

You can probably expect more from me in the future

EDIT: Version with fixed offsets posted

This is very good for being one of your first mods. I like that you used a MOSRotating so that terrain wouldn't get raped. It would probably go nice in a weapons pack.

Not everyone hates them. Once you have a system they aren't that scary.
Quick mini-tut for you, sir Thorneous, if you want to use it. Mini in more than one sense.

Set your SpriteOffset to be half of the component parts.
For this sprite, x = -26.5 and y = -8.
Then open up your sprite in some image editing program that displays pixel locations. I use Paint. Find the locations where you want to put the hands of the soldier. I chose the two spaces at the back of the gun, backmost for the primary hand. If the point is to the left of your SpriteOffset, your JointOffset x component will be negative. If the point is above your SpriteOffset, your JointOffset y component will be negative. Decide how far, absolute value, your chosen point is from your SpriteOffset, and put that value in for the x and y components, with correct sign.
I chose 15,10 and 20,10 for the JointOffset and SupportOffset, so the offset coordiantes for those are -11.5, 1 and -6.5, 1.
For the StanceOffsets, you'll have to play with them a bit. They decide where the primary hand should be placed from the reference of the body's SpriteOffset.
For a sniper, you should probably keep the hands close to the body in normal mode and out in front during sharp mode, so I chose 2,5 and 5,-2 for Stance and SharpStance respectively.
For the last, it works much the same. MuzzleOffset should be all the way at the other end of the gun, so the x coordinate will be positive and most likely the y component will be negative because it is above the SpriteOffset.
I chose 26.5, -2, that looks to be right about the correct place.
And that about does it. Here's the updated .ini I produced, feel free to use it.

Indeed. This sniper rifle technique is incredibly innovative. Perhaps we should use it to make sniper rifles that don't rape terrain. A sniper rifle this revolutionary I haven't seen since the Electrolaser.

But especially for snipers. Snipers tend to rape bunkers more than people.

I find your conclusion disturbing.

@OP, I have a few suggestions.
For one, while your bullet does not do much terrain damage, it still passes through it quite easily to deliver hurt. I would suggest you give the bullet a GibImpulseLimit of 0.1 or lower. This will make it effective against the thing it impacts and the thing it impacts only and prevent it from traveling through terrain like it currently does.
Also, please set OrientToVel = 1, it bugs me to see a MOSRot bullet that isn't OrientToVel = 1.

Topic cleaned up, posts cleaned out.

Bladecat4 and Grif get 1 day bans for derailing the topic. Spartan M43 and vagyr get warnings for being dumb and contributing, respectively.

That is all.
