I found the only thing Gargant can hold is Gigaclaw or the other claw.. lol
interestingly thuo, there is this time I was fighting with a remote body somewhere. I had my Gargant stayed close to base.
after I came back, my Gargant picked the "Ork weapon" from a fallen Gargant. I was like wow.. awesome! but that never happens again. T_T

with an hour of fiddling and a horrendous amount of find-replace in text edit, a big red mac compatible and top-heavy triangle can be yours!
I did all the work and it's not worth it at all. Wait until it's an actual asset in-game before worrying about it. The rest of the pack is awesome though.

Once all of your 40k things are finished you should make some city fight maps or a mission for them.
