Do actors look better with more or less animation sprites.
So my idea a a patch of sorts that adds intermediate sprites, maybe giving an arm 12 sprites instead of 7. I think it might look very good.
But what do you think, do actors look better with more or less sprites.
Maybe they do, maybe they don't. Maybe it makes the actors harder to control. I'm working on it right now, but i just wanted to start a poll to see what people think.

An example I'm cooking up. Or personal experience.

yes they look much better, and smoother. the only reason the vanilla sprites dont have about 9 sprites (i think they have 9 px of movement in them, maybe more..) is because prom is lazy and you dont really notice it when you arent glaring at the actor.

Re: Do actors look better with more or less animation sprites.
It totally depends on what the sprites are animating. Things that move, like arms and legs, would technically look better with more sprites. Things like guns, jetpack/muzzle flashes, etc, only need a few sprites to look good.
It all really depends on what you're making, and on personal opinion.

Kinda random but I don't want to make a different topic, is there a way to get something to pick a random animation frame when it spawns, and not change it?

They would look a bit better with more transitional frames, but the detail would be, for the most part, unnoticed.
I wouldn't bother messing with currently complete content, but in the future if you made new arms and legs have a few more frames it'd be good.
Dunno what you would do with feet, since they're always 4 frame and not really in order of position.

Re: Do actors look better with more or less animation sprites.
I usually have like two more frames than usual, and I've tried feet. It just doesn't use the fifth frame, or anything past four frames.

they look much more proffessional if you have more sprites, but its not exactly important. and if we could have a random sprite chosen for objects, the game would be much better.
