Re: possibility of an APC?
Mikromancer wrote: Azukki, your method sounds interestingly workable, but somewhat comlicated, and, in my limited programming experience, comlicated equals more opportunities for bugs. that's not a reflection on your skill, but rather on my luck this of course means that it would only work in certain missions... which is unfortunate. and yes, i love all the groovy new stuff you can do with missions, but having to re-play the same mission, or couple of missions just to use this would be somewhat of a waste. I think the best course of action would be to hope and pray that somewhere along the line the almighty Devs may see fit to grant us a way to fulfill out APC wishes "Oh no, I could make a typo! I'll just make my essay one sentence long to be safe." FGotta try and fail and try again to ever possibly succeed, I'm certain all modders here have gotten an error before. If your goal turns out to be impossible, you tried, and you probably learned something from it. I personally am not trying it in the meantime simply because I'd rather wait for Lua docs than to learn Lua entirely by example. But I like to throw ideas out there for anyone that does already have the interest/determination/skill to use them. I suck at the coding in the syntax and whatnot of Lua, but from my knowledge, I'm fairly sure everything required for the idea is doable with it. Someone please do try to prove me wrong. I challenge you to. Also when we get Actor/Device/Other Lua integration, it shouldn't have to be limited to certain missions. And quite frankly, I'm pretty sure Data won't be making wheeled, armed crafts.

Re: possibility of an APC?
How about a dropship with a low (not 0) GlobalAccScalar value so that how much you have kind of doesn't matter. Then make the engines weak enough that they can't lift the dropship off the ground, but when angled, they can make the dropship glide over the ground with attachable frictionless skies.
And it can drop units as it kinda hovers around.
How bout it?

Car Dropship? I tried doing this with Void a while back....
And when you encounter a bump, you use the up arrow for a temporary boost.
Also, when making it, "0" isn't good enough because the ground is contributing friction as well. That's why it has to be "-1" friction to counteract the ground (any lower and it goes wack).

Thanks again Zalo! I forgot about needing negative friction. >_<

Re: possibility of an APC?
I just had an idea, you could make a dropship whose engines emit some kind of exploding TDE which sends out air blasts just strong enough to keep it afloat. Just need to move the doors somewhere accessible and then you have a hover apc
Not sure if the TDE bit is possible, but it might be possible with low-sharpness particles that bounce straight back at the same angle. I wouldn't really know but I'm just throwing the idea out there

basically yeah Azukki wrote: Gotta try and fail and try again to ever possibly succeed, I'm certain all modders here have gotten an error before. If your goal turns out to be impossible, you tried, and you probably learned something from it.
again, yeah, having tried and failed at many mods i decided to see if this one was somewhat possible for my level of skill before i tried it Azukki wrote: I personally am not trying it in the meantime simply because I'd rather wait for Lua docs than to learn Lua entirely by example. yeah, i dont know anything about lua, so i'd have to do a lot of example before i achieve anything, i would like to wait for the lua integration you were talking about. it would give me that much more "example" to play with i'm really more of an actors and weapons guy than a scenes guy. and as for what the devs may or may not do, that's up to them, and like i said, all we can do is hope
