 TAC Nuke Corp. - Updated 06/15/09 (B23)
TAC Nuke Corp. is a nuke building corporation designed to create a wide selection of nuclear weapons. Starting from the basic carpet bombing to advanced controllable missiles and precision nuclear strikes from a target painter.

Image

How it started?

I decided that the actual nukes were just boring with nothing really interesting.. no SHROOMS... So when i was looking at that bomb called the "Planet Killer" and i saw that we could make glows ourselves... i decided to put a nuke picture in a glow file and try it out.

Then, because a lot of ppl wanted the mushroom to be animated and not just a nuke image, I decided to make the nuke completely with emitters.

But again, the emitters were too laggy and... too shiny so I went into fireball spriting and made a hueg fireball based nuke.

Image

The Tactical Nuke (Background)

-WMDs- (Weapons of mass destruction)

-Completed-

D-Type (Also known as the delivery or the drop type)

This bomb type is designed to be dropped by a dropship (Like the old times huh?) for a pretty accurate and quick strike. This missile is designed to have light plates on each sides to protect the wiring in case someone decide to shoot the thing. These plates aren't very sturdy so they will easily pop off if shot at, but will still protect the integral structure of the nuke. The engine has also been removed to make the bomb lighter.

Image

L-Type (Launch-able Type)

This one is Made Lighter than the other nukes so the armor has been completely removed (Making it Extremely vulnerable) and using it in the heat of a battle is very risky because your enemy's are almost always too stupid to know that it is a nuke, so they actually shoot at it. Can be launched from a PNL or a VSPNL.

PNL (Portable Nuke Launcher, pretty original no?)

The Portable Nuke Launcher is designed to be able to launch L-Type nukes at a decent range. But it stays one of the most dangerous weapons and users lighter than a "Light Coalition Solider" is clearly dying because of the insane recoil. The range is still very short and cover IS NEEDED when using such a device. DO NOT use in a flat battlefield without any holes or hills to protect you or YOU WILL DIE. You have been warned.

C-Type (Craft Type)

Called into battlefield like any crafts, this missile is remotely controllable by any brains or superior intelligence mechanism. The panels on the sides are sturdier because this version is more exposed to enemy fire. The payload remains unchanged but with the engine added, this missile is more expensive than the D-Type but way more accurate.

Nuke crate (Box of DOOM)

Its the kind of box that soldiers fear, a lot. When you see this one in the battlefield, your best bet is to just run away before the owner decides to detonate it right in your face and make you suffer a pretty hot death. Its useful to put it in your base to make sure nobody gets to your brain alive, but be sure to put it AWAY from your gray matter or else I don't think you will be able to think any longer. Its also a lot of fun to drop it on the top of an enemy base, just like any other nukes. Its also a lot cheaper because it doesn't require really advanced technology such as detonating before hitting the ground or rocket propelled payloads. Its just the good old "press the button" bomb.

Nuclear Containment

Not really useful in the battlefield, its just some kind of silo containing enough stuff to remake Chernobyl. It has to be deployed before the action starts so it's not really a big advantage in the middle of a fight. Its a lot of fun to make a chain reaction with them though.

Nuclear Cannon

The Nuclear Cannon is a weapon capable of holding up to 5 nukes at once. It shoots fast enough, far enough, and good enough. The catch is, this weapon is that the weapon is HUGE and HEAVY (more than you can ever imagine) and the recoil is so insane that it can easily throw a big mech warrior in the air after shooting (based on the old AAL StrikeRaven). So the weapon is mounted on a turret on the ground. The turret receives no recoil but it can't move and cannot be deployed correctly during the fight. It has to be installed before or else you'll come up with a rather weird placed turret that shoots like a back flipping gorilla. The weapon is still available in the store without the turret but you have been warned, it needs more than a coalition heavy soldier to use it, a LOT more.
WARNING : THE WEAPON IS VERY UNSTABLE AND WILL BLOW TO PIECES (Nuke Style) IF ITS SHAKEN AROUND TOO MUCH!

VSNL (Vehicle Scale Nuke Launcher)

Its basically the same as a PNL but in vehicle scale. That means it can shoot faster and farther. Using this vehicle is safer than using the normal infantry size PNL because the vehicle can sustain multiple shockwaves from the exploding nukes, but it wont be able to resist if the explosion is too near, so be careful and use with proper procedures.

T-Type (Terraweight-Type)

A flat missile used for the Nuclear Cannon. It's a lot more heavy than the others but it takes less space on the cannon. The reason that the missile is heavier is purely for balance to make sure no crappy little soldiers can fly around with a crap huge cannon shooting nukes everywhere. Instead, the recoil kills him, making everyone happy! This missile also have a new technology of engine on the back. It's top secret though, so don't be asking.

-In progress-

GRBM (Galaxy Range Ballistic Missile)

Called from a target painter in the battlefield or from a brain or commander, the GRBM can cross the whole galaxy in seconds to finally annihilate the target. The GRBM can go up to 173.6kk/mph in space but before entering a planet's atmosphere, it will considerably slow down to make sure it doesn't melt down before hitting the ground. This has been known as the quickest and cheapest way to deploy a nuke in the battlefield, but replacing the nuke on the GRP (Galaxy Range Platform) will take some time.

-Nuclear Waste Based Weapons-

A new form of weapons went out on the market lately. They are called Nuclear Waste Based Weapons (NWBW).
For now, only a few of these technological marvels are out on the market but they are deadly in their own way.

-Completed-

Nuclear Waste Launcher (NWL)

Image
Image

The NWL is a really big cannon designed to shoot barrels that will explode into pieces in mid-air. The barrels though are filled with very concentrated nuclear waste particles that will spread all over the place when the barrel will blow, making all unadaptively armored units to burn and suffer. These particles can go through a dreadnought armor if its going fast enough. USE WITH CAUTION because if you walk though a room filled with this waste without an armor thick enough, you will be burned and irradiated to death.

Nuclear Waste Sprayer (NWS)

Image

Not much to say about this one, its the same as the launcher above but it sprays the waste instead. It can act like a digger but its not recommended because it usually vaporize the gold, but you can use it to pierce through an enemy base without any problems, if you wait until the waste dissolves in the air.

Nuclear Waste Canister (NWC)

A little canister filled with nuclear waste that can be used as a grenade. Its very volatile and it will blow up as soon as it hits the ground, so you should not drop these unless you don't care about your legs. This one is a lot more tactical than the other weapons because it can be easily thrown inside a bunker or behind the cover to immediately kill everyone inside.

Nuclear Waste Missiles (NWMs) and Nuclear Waste Missile Launcher (NWML)

The NWMs are pretty much like that barrel launched by the NWL except that it is propelled and more sophisticated as well as it wont explode in mid-air. All this will result in a higher price and unstable missiles because of the payload they contain. The NWML will rapidly shoot 5 of these missiles in a drunken and inaccurate path. The missile launcher will take up a LOT of time to reload because of the waste inside the missile. (It needs to be manipulated with care.)

-In progress-

NEED IDEAS!!!! :???:

-Units-

TAC Ship

Image

The tactical ship is designed to be able to sustain one nuke shockwave, making it a pretty reliable nuking ship. Sadly, its armor isn't strong enough to start carpet bombing with the nukes and usually you don't want to do that, one nuke or two is enough, carpet bombing costs too much. The ship is very resistant to bullets and nuclear waste but it can barely survive a rocket, especially when shot at the engine. So watch out for those rocket. One more thing, the ship is powered by nuclear means so when it blow, the ship WILL be worst than a nuke because of all the radiations it will throw everywhere.

HNP Drone (Heavy Nuclear Powered Drone)

This is the kind of drone you don't want to fight. This guy has a super armor that is immune vs nuclear waste and mid-speed bullets (They will just bounce off his mighty yellow armor.) Downside, explosions hurts him ALOT and he is very expansive, still less expansive than a nuke. He's better with the NWBWs because these weapons sustain nuclear waste too. Careful with him though, because his core will explode or go flying around when he dies, often creating bad collateral damage (or good).

CPNL (Crabbed Portable Nuke Launcher)

Mainly a nuke launcher on a crab. When the nuke is launched, the crab "Usually" dies to prevent scavenging of precious materials and information that could be useful for the enemy. The system isn't really up to date and sometimes, the crab will survive the auto-destruction. The good thing is, if it survives, you can still move it out of the enemy territory and take it back to your motherland for some credits.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Some Warnings before I leave you the link :

-IT WILL RAPE YOUR EYES! (Glow intensive)
-IT MAY LAG YOUR GAME! IT EVEN WILL!
-The file is 8.5mb extracted.
-It's NOT my first mod, but its the first one I upload (if you don't count that pirate thingy in the minor mod topic)

Installation :

-Simply put TacNuke.rte in your Cortex Folder.
-If you downloaded a more recent version, delete your TACNuke.rte folder before. Do not overwrite because I often move files around and you will probably be stuck with a bunch of useless files in your folder.

Credits goes to :

-p3lb0x for his code on the drunken missiles.
-Duh102 For making some of the code.
-Flammablezombie for making a majority of the VSNL code and for beta testing the mod. (He is also making the target painter and the C4ed nuke)
-Thoughtprocess and piipu for the old gifs.
-adadadp for the new gif.
-Shook for his Planet Killer (Awesome btw)
-Shook again for one of his nukes in his HUEG PACK O MODS! For a base making mine.
-DSMK2 for his turret, helping me a lot in making the Nuke Cannon turret able.
-Google for helping me find the nuke image for the first nuke, no idea who did this one though.
-Data Realms for that Amazing game.
-Sprites and -MOST- modifications made by me.
-All of you people for giving me more ideas! (Even if i didn't make em all...)

From what I see in the screen shot, it's a TDE. I'd like it a lot more if you made it an ACRocket, that gibs a nuclear bomb, so that you can control it.

Fantastic glow though.

Artistic is fine, this nuke looks and is awesome!! Also your name fits well for this mod.

Only thing I would recommend is a higher-yield nuke with radiation and a larger shockwave, but this is still pretty cool!

Ehh, it's pretty, but an evolving cloud/shockwave would be nicer.
Also, just to give you a heads up, CC will not run better on multiple cores.
But not bad for a first mod.
I like the sprite on the bomb itself; it looks, well, nuke-y.
Like the sort of nuke you'd carpet-nuke with.

Early update for a mistake that i made.

I also made the shockwave much MUCH larger and more epic.

Oh and someone could make a .gif of it?

I loaded it into Orkgothic's goblin bomb and drop it onto the heads of an army. Spectacular, very spectacular...

Hehe, nice shrooms... You really should make it an ACRocket. Be much better.

Giffing now...

Looks very nice, at last nuke that tries to look like one. All of that bigass bombs that just shred everything with ultrasharp and fast particles were getting cliche.

The blast appears on one side bug, I presume that's the map looping point, and that is a bug that cannot be fixed.

Anyhow downloading.

Nope that bug still appears when the map is not X or Y-wrap (Never saw a y wrapped map though...)

Wow.. Nice nuke. It actually looks like a nuke, many other nukes don't.

And don't worry, nobody should not say you as a noob. That's great job. And the spriting here is more respected side than coding.

The glow is nice and all, but I'd suggest actually making an animated MOSParticle instead, so the mushroom cloud is actually properly animated.
