Post Re: Dummy faction mechanics
Well, ended up not touching any of this during the christmas break. And now I have to get the animation finished by thursday so the models are what they are. Would like to do better ones, but I doubt I'll touch this anymore.

Also forgot how the hands and feet were rigged (I left these for last because they were the most complicated parts) so now I cant move the dummy's fingers or toes. Have to hide that little fact somehow and hope the teacher doesn't notice.

Here's the latest shot of it:

Don't actually have any ideas for the animation, so they'll just probably walk around and fall off cliffs.

Very nice. Maybe you should have multiple Dummies in your animation doing some sort of communicating, and the dreadnought can just be hanging around in the background.

Personally I think a bunch of shenanigans and them being generally stupid would be nice. (looking for an enemy that isn't there, the dreadnought never really doing anything even though the other dummies urge it to help) Try to model simple weapons for them... if your teacher isn't a hippy.

and have the dreadnought just hang around and at the end he just randomly walks off the cliff, implanting part of his dome into the ground, leaving his legs up in the air, wiggling.

I don't suppose you could upload the models for download when you're finished?

Here is the version I returned to school (I'll try to get a better one up). The dreadnought is actually animated to walk all the way to the cliff edge but not fall off yet... Since the class was on rigging, this was enough to pass.

I had the dummy markings on them, but somehow screwed up with the texture and random holes appeared, so I just took them off.

I'll probably finish the animation later though. Maybe have the dummy try to dig the air or something in the foreground.

Unless something else comes up.

edit: oh and, yeah I can probably upload the models later.

You should have the dummy do the robot / pop'n'lock.

That animation is awesome, top job.
you should send it to Data, he'd probably have a laugh at watching his dummy army performing some SWEET MOVES!

I was listening to Scott Joplin's "Maple Leaf Rag" as background music for that video. It was quite hilarious.

I wish Data and Prom were on more often so they could say whether or not the Dreadnought is correct.

nice lookin models and animations was great. You're on the right track here. you should make model of all the CC characters, if you have the time, and make a story for them to follow. And make epic battle scenes! Wow that would be really cool. This project is awesome.
