Re: CC: An Interactive History [Incl DIRT 1,4,5,13,21,22] - PIX
Thanks a million Foil. My memory must be off since it still feels like I remember build 14 as build 4. But based on that link it was definetly build 14 when I came in, because I remember when base building was implemented for the first time and how you couldn't exactly sink beneath the stage but it would chop off your limbs. I have a copy of build 17 lying around as well that I never updated or deleted and its outdated design reflects my memory of build 14 and 15 a lot so it has to be 14. Good thing thats cleared up.
I kind of miss the way the physics worked back then. I would set off this one bright blue bomb whose name I cant recall underground and very close to a beefed up semi invincible unit, and it would send the thing flying though the dirt and around the screen like a hundred times over, faster than the game could actually show on screen, and by the end of it there would just be a series of wide tunnels shooting everywhere through the dirt with a strange and impossible exit hole coming out of the ground at an angle that made no sense given the way the actor traveled. The way the physics just starting going wierd for no reason from experiments like that made the game hilarious. But the change is worth it since the first party content will be a lot better.

I'd recommend build 14 of Cortex Command: It has the old atmosphere of CC, but it isn't as buggy.

Nope, 13 was after gold thrown into rockets was gone. Build 13 housed the incarnation of corporations, the first AAL pack, the first MaximDude pack, I BELIEVE the first CRobo pack, among others.

What is DIRT? Is it a Cortex Command spin-off?

It was what Cortex Command was originally named before it got into some copyright strife...

Still love you for compiling this Grif, I just downloaded build 14 (of CC) again, it was my first build. It has this frantic gameplay that the current versions of CC lack, I think it has something to do with the lack of bunker building and tiny BALANCED arsenal. I have plans of putting this build on a cocktail arcade cabinet.

Which build did rockets start gibbing? I wanna try things out before that, and see "A rocket get shot full of holes and smash through the map like the fist of an angry god."
