Or, better yet, if you lose your key or whatever, can't you just send scancode an e-mail from the address you registered with?

Actually, you can have it re-sent manually at http://licensing.datarealms.com/, which is a whole lot easier for both you and Scancode. ;)

It's been done, with varying amounts of success. Actually, a fair number of games are cross-platform, even between PC and consoles.

Remember, a console is just a highly-specialized PC. It's probably easier to make a port from one to the other than you or any of us realize. None of us are software developers, professionally, so its best not to speculate.

One thing that we do know is that the Wii/Playstation/XBox marketplaces, as well as Steam Games, collect a flat fee per billing cycle, as well as a royalty per transaction. As a result, his profit margin is reduced (although I imagine his profit margin is already unnaturally high).

Back on topic, it's easy enough to put a database on your computer with all of your keys. You can use Microsoft Access, SQLite, or any open source database software.

For example, I use MySQL:

As you can see, I have a nice handy-dandy WEB ACCESSIBLE database for my keys. It's backed up weekly (not that this database changes all that often), and I can access it anywhere.

Even cooler, I could write myself a little app to put in a name and password and I could have it spit out a key of my choosing. Actually, I might do that. Anyway, if you're concerned about losing paper, consider running a little database. At a minimum, make yourself a notepad file or a spreadsheet. This way, you can encrypt the information so that a malicious hax0r can't steal your keys.

So basically, you want an indie developer to put their game on a system that takes royalties per purchase, thus forcing them to increase the price further, because you're too lazy to make your own backups of your game key?
That is the very epitome of laziness.
Seriously. A single notepad document containing all the keys that would be on "random scraps of paper", printed out and kept somewhere where you can find it again works fine.
Keeping the digital copy AND the paper copy is the, err, key.
You can lose the paper one, no big deal, just reprint it.
Your disk can fail, no matter, just transcribe it or scan it from the printed one.

Even better: I keep mine on both my main drive and my backup, external drive.

CC would ♥♥♥♥ itself on the wii. the ps3 should be able to run it, as should the xbox, but a lot of porting and optimising would have to be done; especially on CC's ram usage for the ps3. anyway, ill stop speculating. if it happens, itll happen in a long time.

Data could make a separate game with CC's engine that will be restricted in certain ways to prevent lag and made to be fun even without mods(online play maybe since the physics would be toned down). But that's a long ways off.

Again, not possible.
As much as we all love the Wii, it simply doesn't have enough memory or processing power.

Not unless it gets nVida's physics acceleration.

data will never incorporate that. that would be ridiculous.
nextgen wii might be able to, but i dont see data porting CC until after its done.
why are we discussing this? ><

i dont think steam would happen.
