I enjoy this map very much so. It's deliciously new.
Moon keeps splattering into me.
I love it. Great job.

Just wish it was possible to rotate the actors with the orbit... Or is it?

I also thought the actors would go round the planet but no, they can't. Still, it's a really cool map, but it would be cooler if the actors can do that.

Sorry for the let-down, Soldat. Data wrote: Oh damn.. this makes me want to redo all the code that assumes downward gravity! That would be a LOT of work to get right though.. maybe worth it though? Data posted this in this topic on page 3. A simple translation - It doesn't work with the current engine. Maybe (MAYBE) in the future.

Re: Orbit Lands - It's gravitationally delicious!
Very fun scene, I made some slight changes to make my moon have a more stable mass, and it is rocketing around the planet causing quite a bit of destruction. Very easy to add additional moons as well. Having 4 moons rotating your planet is a bit insane.
Only question, how do you make gibs gravitate towards the moons? That would be cool to have a giant clump of ship parts and hunks of meat attaching themselves to the moon. Is this even possible?

No snowball gibs yet.

If you just increase the variable moongrav, it will suck toward it more Right now, it's at a very low value so it doesn't suck you off of the planet every time it comes by, but if you want to try it, open the console (~ or \ button) and type moongrav = 1. That should make it have the same pull as the planet.

Re: Orbit Lands - It's gravitationally delicious!
I increased the moongrav and noticed an increase in gravity toward objects such as ships and actors, but not the gibs and ship parts themselve which appear to have no acceleration toward the moon.

Re: Orbit Lands - It's gravitationally delicious!
It's likely that the particles are simply moving too fast to be pulled toward it. Are they moving toward it with a lot of speed? If not, I have some debugging to do

Re: Orbit Lands - It's gravitationally delicious!
The particles simply bounce off the object, they don't accelerate at all at it. So I'm guessing your gravity function is missing a little code. I looked on the wiki but didn't find any other object arrays for MovableMan, and am not sure if the gibs would even fall under this as I have not used LUA.
Also, I am wondering why when the planet is touched by anything somewhat heavy, there is lag. I have my gravity settings kind of high and objects kind of just push into the earth, and this creates lag. Especially when a moon crashes (since I have their masses set so high). Is swapping out the earths materials something that can be done in an ini file, or is there some other way to fix this?

Re: Orbit Lands - It's gravitationally delicious!
The lag is caused by the large amount of particles that are detached on collision with the planet. And yeah, I probably missed something in the Lua.

Re: Orbit Lands - It's gravitationally delicious!
Is there a way to make the planet more solid?
Sorry for all the questions, but i love your map and it just kills me when my moon crashes, literally. It squishes its way to the center of my planet where it then kills my brain lol.
