The update is incredible. I love the turrets, the guys have strong weapons, but aren't overkill against vanilla troops and weaps. The weapons are extremely fun. Crazy awesome.
Off-topic: Out of what I've seen, this topic currently has the most replies to it than any other topic, including Cinos's CYOAs. Epic indeed.

darlos has covered the whole "exploding things" issue a lot. its not going to happen. if you really want it to, as someone said, learn to code gibs and attachables yourself.
low profile jets = explanation? also, i didnt know you could limit how long it took for a burst to happen, can you? thats pimp.

I still don't think the electrolaser is powerful enough. It needs to somehow destroy the target with a direct hit AND do secondary damage. Since the shogun can't fly, it's impossible to shoot don't dropships with it.

Because the first image in my head was a shogun jetting on top of a dropship, planting it's feet firmly, and then proceeding to dismantle it piece by piece from above. That would be epic.

Or, y'know, somebody gets stuck on top of a dropship and pulls out the ol' D4s. I assure you that it's a very manly feeling when there are crashing rockets and exploding grenades all around, and you're just striding through the battlefield punching everything in the head.

It's primarily for taking out grounded targets, which it does fairly well. Even if it doesn't kill them, it tends to maim them horribly.

rawr darlos beat me to it again. why would you take down a dropship with the electrolazer? like, i suppose it works if you get on top of them, but the logistics of that with a shogun are bad. its essentially a light artillery sniper blows the crap out of anything grounded very accurately, and weighs less than it could. plus, you can take out the newly dropped off troops by shooting at the underside of the dropship. Man, screw electrolasers or guns in general. I freaking fly my shinobi's right next to dropships and stab off those thrusters. That's what makes real ninjas.

Now, do you have anything to actually add to this conversation, or are you just here to increase the post count for no reason? Also, since this is post 1002, you're clearly 1001. Fail.

I was thinking maybe they could be a support unit. Since your guys don't have any way to dig, their standard weapon would be special laser claws designed for digging. I also though of three devices for them. A shield deployer(this would help protect shoguns from dropship gibs and protect units getting out of a hole). A hologram deployer(for distracting enemies). And the recall device. It deploys a beacon that after a while shoots a ball of energy straight up really fast that will suck anything it comes in contact with into it.

For once (though "laser claws" makes me facepalm a bit) I see what you're saying and your suggestions are actually helpful. Going by the mythology, it would make sense for a "Kitsune" unit to be a tricky support unit, since the actual kitsune were trickster-spirits. There could indeed be some potential here. I like the idea of causing confusing holograms. This thing could be a walking countermeasure device. ... crap, now I have a new project. Edit: on second though, this is pretty ambitious. I think I'll work on smaller countermeasure devices first. This post was great inspiration, though.
