Re: YOUR first mod ever
My first unposted mod was a normal rocket with super-strong emitters and 100000000 health, intended to be a drill of some sort. My first posted one was an octogon shaped shield and a long Riot shield.

Re: YOUR first mod ever
The first mod I made was a -10000 gold grenade.
The first mod I released was a pack of bunker modules revolving around stairs. It had shorter flights of stairs, segmented stair modules for elongated stairways, and a small bit of stairs for 24 pixel high step-ups. It was useful, and the spriting was barely distinguishable from vanilla content in spriting quality/style, (it was, after all, mostly spliced vanilla sprites) but it wasn't well received because it was so simple.

Re: YOUR first mod ever
I think the very first tweak i ever did was to make the brain invincible. I was tired of it popping all the time, so i looked around, and found a thread on how to do it. And the first standalone mod i made was a gold sprayer. Meh. It's lost for good though. Unless someone still has it, which i highly doubt.

Re: YOUR first mod ever
My first mod was a collection of "realistic" weapons. It had various handguns, smgs, and rifles. I was trying to give them function and ballistics most similar to their real-life counterparts. After a while, I tried to make some actors to come with them, and... well, the rest is history.
I still have that mod sitting around. It's not playable though.

The first mod I ever made was the "plague doctor", inspired by Keith Tompson's Viraemia ( http://www.keiththompsonart.com/pages/viraemia.html) and gunner shield ( http://www.keiththompsonart.com/pages/gunnershield.html), but the first mod I released was the guardian stuff =]

Re: YOUR first mod ever
A little rinky-dink revolver. 6 shots, god-awful sprite, way overpowered bullet, default reload. Later re-made it.
The first mod I tried to make was a grinder that ate devices and gave gold. That kinda failed.

Ballistic shield pistol combo.
Basically a resprited pistol with some slight alterations to code to make it more durable then a pistol and to take a lot of shots.
I liked it... And it had 200 downloads or so.
I deemed it a mild success. : P

I never got it working quite right, and ended up putting it on the back burner until recently when LazyFaith requested a manual door, and I decided to go back and finish it up to a point of decency. I know I should give it better gibs, and reverse the frames so it closes automatically occasionally instead of opening, but for the meantime I won't bother.

Re: YOUR first mod ever
My first mod was a G36, but it was pretty crappy. I knew nothing about offsets or anything like that. This was in build 6 or 7 or something like that. Around december 2006. What build was that then? My first good mod, though, was probably the SCAR 11 for build 10 I think, which I remember being quite successful. I've updated the sprites a little and remade it for build 22. Not sure about releasing though, because it is just a weapon (With the Herzog and PK-74 too)

Re: YOUR first mod ever
My first mod was a little weapons pack. It wasn't very exciting; lots of small things, really, with very few directly-resprited weapons and a couple from-scratch ones. Beyond one tiny resprite for a soldier, the only thing I really worked with at length was balance, and I've got it pretty much perfect by this point in terms of cost/performance/reload/effectiveness and all that jazz. I really like playing with it, but most of the replies for it were negative. Should post it again now that I've tooled it around some.

Re: YOUR first mod ever
my first was with what i thoguh would be the white robots dreadnought.
it was almost unkillable from the fount (only really high penetration partials could hurt it) but from the back it had several breakable armor plates that were blown off to reveal a core of glowing green glassy stuff, blow that up and BANG. it also had a interesting duel heavy machine gun setup and a (sort of) functional jetpack.
the only REALLY annoying thing was the guns on dreadnoughts HAVE to swivel from the center of the gun, which gave me freaky gun turning that looked a bit retarded as it was on a arm and not a implaced gun.... but we learn from doing.
its sprite also looked like someone had ♥♥♥♥ white crap.
but on the other hand it got VERY mixed praise some people said it was a fantastic try at a first mod, other said it was ♥♥♥♥ and i should GTFO. guess which ones i like to remember 8D

Mine was a me. My second though was a glowing me. Both unreleased and horribly shitty.

Re: YOUR first mod ever
Noisy cricket. It was terrible, 10000 rounds in half a second, melted everything. it was a hack pistol. followed by a sentinal beam (laser) made from a digger. followed by a flame thrower that everyone hated because it was just slow heavy glowing bullets. then I started working on the tau, followed by pirates.
Everything has been terribly sprited, and people seem to automatically hate everything I make.
