Post Very extreme virus attack
I downloaded some trick and I ended up with some the worst viruses I've ever encountered. It's not as bad as before, but it still has really made everything a lot more difficult. Lemme break it down, y'all.

- From my account, my C drive cannot be accessed, because My Computer doesn't seem to bring it up. Because it isn't there, I can't use most of my programs.
- Task Manager can't be used, because it was disabled somehow.
- Most things in the start menu can't be found, including the Log Off button.
- Desktop permanently set to red with a virus alert on it. Also functions as a link to the internet, which is good since Mozilla won't open if I click the icon.

These things have happened ONLY to my account, so something tells me that reformatting can be avoided.

Delete the account and make a new one?

Format.

Edit: You'd best off formatting, what with that making sure no traces of the virus remain.

If you absolutely can't, do what TD said.

That was my first thought, but before I go about doing that, I'm gonna make sure there aren't any other solutions.

EDIT: @TrouserDemon. And -1 internets for Venn.

Well, it sounds like the virus dramatically changed your account permissions, so you can't access my computer or run some .exes.

Obviously it won't have the permissions to change these within the account, so you can try changing them from another admin account.

However, these don't sound like settings that you can change easily, they sound more like registry values or something.

I think the best thing to do is just make a new account.

Do what Ophanim said. I had a virus like this a few years back. I started in safe mode, searched around for the problem and found it had infected several essential windows files and tampered with them. I had to format the PC in the end, I couldnt do anything else to save it. If you have to format, do it. Its not too bad, at least it recovers the PC, its only a few hours (days) getting everything you had before back on the hard drive.

Two nights ago my brother reformatted the computer, and everything is good again. The sound isn't ♥♥♥♥ up anymore in CC either! Thanks all for the help.
