Re: DarkStorm Military Technologies - Updated 9/7/08
I love this mod, and it inspired me to make a scene specific to the faction. (Reposted from my thread in Scene Making) I call it Impregnable Acropolis Genbu. Keep up the good work. I'd love to see some Bunker tile recolors specific to Darkstorm so I could make more scenes for them, but I know that is a little much to ask.

^that's really ♥♥♥♥ unfair. i feel sorry for the guys you got lined up in your activities Darlos9D wrote: Because a military would give people unique helmets based on the weapon they use, right? I don't know, I got guys rapidly dropping in drop pods every 10-15 seconds or so.
Also, it may look intimidating, but the AI finds some interesting ways to throw themselves into the base.

I've thought about it, though I have no specific ideas. Also, a scene involving and actual DarkStorm facility would most likely exist in some kind of cold, snowy place. Though I guess if they (or somebody using their technology, since anybody can buy it) set up shop on the CC planet, it could be anywhere. I've actually had the idea of the DarkStorm HQ being in some cold place for a while, even before the Mr Freeze inspiration. I've just always liked snowy scenery. And since this mod contains pretty much all of my other aesthetic tastes (combinations of black, blue, and gray, mech suits with huge lower legs, sleek simplicity, and so forth) I figured I may as well throw a snow base in there for good measure. Maybe someday I'll come back and design and script something along those lines.

Re: DarkStorm Military Technologies - Updated 9/7/08
I have a spire map set on snow in my thread in Scene making, but it doesn't have any Darkstorm specific elements, and probably wouldn't be worthy of an HQ heh, but I agree I like the snow thing.
If you didn't want to design an HQ yourself, but had a good sketch or concept art of one for inspiration I could whip up one for you if you wanted, unless it's something you wanted to keep to yourself, which is also understandable.

Easiest place to put it would be the bottom of Index.ini. It'll load and be buyable just fine. Oh cool, thanks!

@Darlos: It's funny, back when these were still DarKlones I would usually give each of my troops one or two Ice bombs from Numgun's bomb pack. I always associated ice with DS for some reason =S

Just because you're capable of lifting the weight required doesn't mean you have the manual dexterity required to do it rapidly.

He makes sense to me. It's reasonable to assume that in the far off future they've got ways of improving strength and dexterity mechanically. Plus, assuming that the Darkstorm aren't supposed to be used in squads, it makes sense it's adapted for quick reloading by one man.

Re: DarkStorm Military Technologies - Updated 9/7/08
ITT: People postulate about "the future" in a silly video game and look even sillier while doing so.
There are already automatic loaders for large things like autocannons and tanks. And reloading the box magazine on a m249 or an m60 is not as hard as it seems.
I'd like to note that flamethrowers aren't used because they are unwieldy--not just to reload--but generally speaking are just dangerous. Get yourself shot and you might take your squad or platoon with you.
That, and I think there's some Geneva Convention garbage about burninating people.
