Post Graphic card driver version
Well, i have CS:S and i go to play it and this pops up:
Image
notice the version 6.14.

I go to ATI's driver website, and it says that the latest driver for the RADEON 9250 is 6.11. What?
I asked this a while ago and someone said to just hit continue anyway. I have done that, and CS:S simply never launches. It just stays like this:

for about 5 minutes. And then closes. Sometimes it will update the game, but as soon as it's done it just doesn't start.

Any tips on how to get it to work?

(I have a similar problem with GMod, minus the graphics card warning)

Go to Device Mangler and uninstall the driver, reboot, grab the latest one from ATI, install, reboot, and try it again.

Regardless of what version it says is newest and what it says you have, you should update your driver anyways.

Sure is a lot of unhelpful reply in here. Older ATI cards register as outdated on drivers because they only support the older drivers up to 6.14. Ignore it or upgrade.

http://www.omegadrivers.net/ati.php

get the drivers from there, the thing is, most new drivers will work for older cards. last time i checked, the guy who runs omegadrivers.net is a ati driver dev, So the drivers are just a bit better then the ones you get from ati's site

Well, you helped, didn't you? You told him to either ignore it or upgrade. That narrows it down to only ripping his hard drive out and smashing it against his forehead. (don't tell me that didn't make sense--it made about as much sense as your post).

Except I'm right because that's the only thing he can do and none of you even understand. Not a single one of you even own a Radeon 9250. Oh, and guess who did? Haha, me. Great job not knowing what you're talking about.

By the way if you ignore everyone else and listen to me you'd know why it isn't working right now Octyl.

Even when going through ATI's site it gives you the current driver version you have. That's because it does not SUPPORT anything newer.

By the way I did have Omega drivers when I had that card, but the proper version. I needed them because ATI's broke fraps. Steam still gave me that message.

Hey Octyl, did you try Steam Support? I've got twenty on negative. Noone ever tries the support line.

I'll try the support line, but i'm starting to think it's a problem with Source. EVERY SINGLE source game i've tried doesn't work.
