Hi, Its been a long while like this and I recall it happened when I was "boosting" my windows to become faster and so on. But I've completely forgotten about it already what I did so its no use going back since I cant remember all the things I tried to "tweak".

The problem is that my start bar doesnt show the tabs for programs that are opened and active. Even now, I have Opera, PSP, IE7, Notepad and Windows Explorer open right now, but there are no tabs on the start bar.



I dont even know what are those things called and its something that wouldnt really happen to anyone so searching the internet is clueless unless I know what are they called. Also my Spanish copy of windows xp doesnt make things easier either.

How do I get them back?

No, its not that. I've been using my PC without tabs for a long while and I didnt mind it back then. I have no idea what I broke, but there are no tabs on my start bar and thats it.

Everything else works perfectly. The start bar seems totally fudged up though.

Right click on it and press properties?

If there isn't an option there, and you did this by ♥♥♥♥ around with files, then you might have to re-install windows.

Check if the start bar is frozen. If so, I'm guessing you must have a virus.

You can see if the start bar is frozen by checking if the start button highlights when you mouse over it, or icons/time in the bottom right change periodically. A frozen start bar won't do any of this.

Explorer slowed down and froze for me periodically, which caused it to not show any tabs. But it always unfroze.

Well no, its not frozen either, everything works fine on the start bar except the tabs for active programs.

I guess I either screwed up really hard while "tweaking" my windows or a virus has me. Did a thorough virus scan with Nod32 so I guess I'll need to do 2 things in the near future:

1) Format and reinstall windows.
2) Get better antivirus.

I disagree.

NOD32 is by far the best antivirius I've ever encountered.

I doubt this is a virius.

Seems more likely you just corrupted something.

If there's no option anywhere, then re-installing would be a good idea, but I don't think you can get better than NOD32.

You probably changed a registry setting you shouldn't have.

There's a reason you're supposed to back it up before you do that, you know.

Aw dumb me, I was too fat to do that while I was messing around in the registry.
