Well then again, Lua is his best choice. I'm just guessing here, but I think he wants to learn because of CC and Lua. Plus he's more likely to continue using it because Lua is used in quite a few games and is gaining popularity.

If he will come right out and say "I want to learn Lua for CC," then there'd be no dispute. If he wants to just learn, he's best starting with a high-level C-based language.

It doesn't really matter what C-based languages, I only suggest Java because it is the most universally accepted as a learning tool.

Lua (a scripting language) will not, in a reasonable amount of time, supplant C-based languages, Python, or PHP. And I highly doubt you'll ever seen an entire game designed completely in Lua.

Tim's making one. Plus I've got twenty on it never ever going farther than Lua, so I'm suggesting that.

Everything down to the rendering engine done completely in Lua without using some sort of pre-programmed interpreter to execute Lua? This is something I'd like to see, got any links?

All of these languages are great if you never plan on doing anything with them. If you ever plan to get a job, COBOL and RPG are two business-oriented languages that are still widely used.

Tim is scripting one in Löve.

That is like making an addon in gmod.

Except 100% less work.
