Post Storyline questions...
When/if the CC storyline gets expanded, will it be more serious or more lighthearted?

To use a Gundam analogy, will it be 08th MS Team or G Gundam?

Also, I have a few questions about specific story details. Do the soldiers have thoughts and feelings, or are they just brain-controlled husks? Why are the weapons mostly anachronistic, like blunderbusses, pump-action shotguns, and AK-47 rifles? Most of all, why are the brains fighting? Are they just bored or something?

Edit: Two suggestions for the CC team, one tangentially related to this, one completely unrelated.

1. Have a main campaign that's like Dawn of War: Dark Crusade's campaign (open-ended), but also have several smaller-scale campaigns that follow a set story path, with cutscenes and scripted events and all that.

2. If there's more than one track in the music folder, have it randomly select which one to play. Adding more music would help with this.

Serious, yet there will always be that one character, that one that is overly-optimistic, and seems constantly high.

Does zombies with Medieval Age bombs sound serious, because that'll be part of it.

That could count as serious or ridiculous, depending on what Data does with the concept. It's not hard sci-fi, but it could be serious if it's not played for laughs.

I doubt it. I guess in the same sense that it's hard to take most SNES-style games seriously. What with everyone gibbing in a comically violent way.

The general consensus (or my complete speculation) on the storyline is that a new planet was discovered with plenty of gold, which feeds the intergalactic society the body-less humans have discovered.

On this new planet, it's Wild West meets hyper-capitalism as independent entrepreneurs and giant corporations alike compete to reel in the big dough. Civilian life is unlikely, the only "law" around is whoever has got the biggest guns and the most shinies.

Anyone who visited the old official board way back would know that the planet hides plenty more than just gold..

The weapons are most likely just early build stuff, but one would guess that they are a cheap alternative to more up-to-date weapons.

What I want to know though.. did the other alien races follow humanity to their body less state, or will it be encased brains versus physical field commanders?

Yeah, wasn't there just some cryptic message about that, but no actual details?
And there's the possibility that the planned storyline has completely changed since then.
[...]
I think it's probably just everyone doing their own thing. Different strategies are probably taken by different races, to suit their needs, requirements, and goals. And if other races make use of similar disembodiment, I'm sure plenty of them came up with the idea themselves.

What I'm wondering is why gold is still regarded as being so valuable in this futuristic universe, to the alien races and to the futuristic mankind. Sure, it's got some appliable properties to it, but not enough to still be the essence of wealth as it has been to us for so long. I would think by the time we're able to intergalactically mine, our society wouldn't be so obsessed with something just because it's pretty.

I'm also wondering how/why/who/what is animating the skeletons. Zombies can always be some horrible disease in a cloning facility or something, but there's nothing apparent keeping skeletons from falling apart, muchless walking. Did we come across true magic in our intergalactic journey?

Yes, it is infested with the 'Guardians' of the Planet, and then you find out thems, on the moon, you do some ♥♥♥♥, and have to fight a ♥♥♥♥ load while you try to destroy the Alpha Brain.

Some, the brain, may command physical generals, and yadah.

A huge number of races and civilizations all competing over resources and planetary secrets going lighthearted? Lighthearted would only possibly refer to the state of being of all the people that will die in the name of Cortex Conquest! Heart Gibs ftw.

Gold is the main currency.. perhaps, because that society has had serious problems with artificial currency, like coins and bills. Maybe Gold doesn't have the associated weaknesses of bills and the like, like hyper-inflation. Don't know really, not an economic expert. In any case, it makes a good game element.

There's been a range of guesses on this (Including one that the skeletons are unfinished green clones). Story-wise, the skeletons are apparently the cannon-fodder of the planet's mysterious guardians, swarming their enemies while the more important ones take advantage of the distraction. As for their realism.. I don't know. I've always imagined skeletons as very slightly mechanical.

I think the answer is ( from a CC fanfic, about The Life and Death of Clone [Code] ) that the skelie has a proto brain, and AI in it's skull which controls an intricate network of advanced nitinol wire tech to make the damn thing move!

There, it is semi realistic like Pikmin, now you should think it is partially true at least.

Skeletons are (re)animated by a necromancer found on the moon.

I can only assume that a reanimated Ron Paul is the leader of the Coalition because they use gold-backed currency.
I'm kinda wondering what the stance will be on FTL travel though- none, natural wormholes sustained through machines, ancient tech (stargates), warp drives, etc.
Also, in terms of the Gundam analogy- it better as hell not be akin to 0080 or I will be too busy bawwing to play.

Cortex Command is starting to sound more like Rock Raiders.

Except there are no Slimy Slug holes to worry about. And no announcer to tell you about them over and over again.
Hmmm...

Seriously though, an Orpheus sprite would rock. I'd field him with tons of skellies!

They need gold for it's conductive properties that are very important in keeping the brain cages working.
How do humans reproduce if they all just disembodied brains? Cloning just doesn't have the same feel as the real thing.
