Post CC Scripts
Well, according to some obvious feedback, using a batch file as its own GUI doesn't work.

So, I retooled it to be a couple of scripts: screenshot deletion and screenshot compression (The only ones really of any use in the first place)

Also, screw different formats. If you don't have WinRAR, get it.

Download

Feedback is welcome, though I don't see any other use for simple scripts (cept maybe mod loading/unloading?)

Whoo yeah a replacement for winrar that's less functional than winrar!

Hey dude here's the thing maybe if this were like 1999 this would be useful but most people aren't worried about installing one extra program on their computer. Really.

I tried it, and I think it's pretty useful. It greatly reduces the size of images without ruining the quality. I wish I knew how to make programs...

I believe what Grif is trying to make a point about here is the fact that you're providing us with a utility that 99.99% of people don't need on this forum.

Don't try to make a rebuttal by saying "But I'm GOING to do x, y, and z," because most likely, it won't happen. Call me cynical, but the vast majority of "works in progress" never make much progress, due to the fact that various things which take importance over such projects will happen during one's life, and that most people are inherently lazy. Why do work when you don't need to? But hey, prove me wrong and create something that isn't a just WinRAR clone and THEN you can flout your program. Also, give us a freaking GUI. It's the 21st century man, not the archaic text-based 80's. I don't have a problem with console-based programs, but drag-and-drop is a lot more intuitive then PRESS 2, HIT ENTER, TYPE NAME IN, HIT ENTER AND TYPE Y, HIT ENTER TO COMPRESS FOLDER.

And before you go on a rant about how "underappreciated" your hard work is and how no one respects you, consider that all you've really done is made a script which feeds variables into external applications which are of no use to most people who use this website and changes the color of a console's font and background.

Finally, don't troll. You're attempting to sarcastically affirm the idea that your "program" is a valid and useful utility by telling us it doesn't take up much space and by promising us that you'll continue to work on it. The former argument is the equivalent of saying "I'm going to hurt you, but not severely." You're still causing some amount of suffering, regardless of what weapon you use. The latter is an empty statement. Very few of us have any trust in you whatsoever, so the idea that you'll convince us that this script will serve a good purpose in the future by essentially saying "Just because." is a bit ridiculous, don't you think? If you truly have confidence that you'll be able to develop something useful, you shouldn't have to respond to the replies of other trolls (though Grif makes a vaild point in his post). Next time, don't. And if you do have the insatiable need to respond to a troll, take it to PMs.

The real irony in this is that he provides us with a zipped up RAR of his script. Most RAR decompressors have the ability to compress items now-a-days, and if your's doesn't, you should really consider getting a better compression/decompression program.

EDIT:
In light of CaveCricket's comments, I am also questioning the legality of this project. Are Rar.exe and optipng.exe freely distributable? They appear to be programs from Linux converted into Windows binaries. If they are not, this download could be considered warez.

Would it be out of line for me to respond to the previous post simply with 'owned'?

Oh and this is actually pretty great because I was looking for a batch image converter the other day even though there is always that one that comes with dwarf fortress instead I used this one.

Except for things like Redhat and whatnot.
P.S. winrar is not Linux.
