Re: Mappack III in the works
Currently I lack some earth maps (but I could use the vanilla blue background as a last resort) and hellish looking ones. (The current red ones are disliked.) Volcanoes would be nice too I guess. The rest will (have to) do, although stretching them to support higher resolutions won't make them prettier. Anything else you come across with might be nice to replace something else with. Thanks!

Re: Mappack III in the works
Support's done for 800x600. Unfortunately the backgrounds get too spread out when stretching them for 1024x768; however, if you don't mind a small black bar below the background then you can say 1024x768 is supported too. >_> *ahem* Also, if I'd stretch them to 1024x768, any 640x480 users would be looking at a 4 pixels wide background, if you know what I mean. I want to thank all people again who gave permission to use their stuff in these maps. They will be adding so much extra to them. At the moment I don't need backgrounds anymore. It's all covered. A question to people who use(d) past mappacks and found they were running slow: How are they running in build 21? If the answer is somewhere near "Good", then I will be able to place actors/guns in these maps again. (Possibly coupled with UniTec stuff.)

Re: Mappack III in the works
Can you give us a rough estimate of when it will be out?

So uh, any hope for 1280x800 support?

Re: Mappack III in the works
@Requisite: About three weeks. Don't nail me to the wall with this estimate though. I've got all the objects I need now, so the only thing to do is to make scenes. Five of them are about done, but that leaves me 15, yes, 15 maps to do. I've planned 20+ maps, ~75% large, ~25% small. @Falcon X: Not really, but the backgrounds get tiled horizontally, so that'll be no problem. Only thing is that there will be a black strip on the bottom of the maps.

Update: Some new screenshots. Right now 8 out of 20 are done.

Requisite wrote: These look amazing. Thanks. The ship level really is quite a piece. Numgun did an awesome job designing the map after which I polished it. It'll be the greatest level in this pack, without doubt. Problem is: Currently it's also the slowest. Working on it, but I am afraid we'll have to get rid of many details. Anyway, 3-4 maps a week, 12 maps to go. If I don't get hit by a meteorite, things should be done in about 3 weeks. (Yeah, I think I said 3 weeks a week ago. I'm getting Data tendencies. ) *hides from Data's wrath*5 of the 20 maps will be small, so everyone should be able to have a blast.

This is coming out amazingly soon. Usually a few month and then there's a map pack, all ready to live in the interwebs.

Re: Mappack III in the works
Thanks, Foa. It's partly thanks to the people not minding me borrowing their stuff. Their stuff really helps making these maps feel complete and shaves off weeks of my time to try to make stuff myself (and probably fail at making harder objects). Almost every map will have layered backgrounds as well, unlike MP2, although just 2 or 3 layers. For example, the snow maps have had the stars/sky cut off from the mountains and the mountains now serve as a foreground against a starry night/bright sky etc. Some have three, like the city style maps, who now have an extra layer with some skyscrapers and a moon. Yesterday I found some mountain ranges to use with the earth maps. I've got several people to beta test too, and their feedback is very helpful. I've already changed a fair bit thanks to them and they also provide me with lots of stuff to use. All in all, I am very excited about this and think this pack will give players many days/weeks, maybe even months, of fun, depending on how much you like CC.

Re: Mappack III in the works
I have an idea for a map just for the sake of having it. Might require special doors though. Care to listen?

Re: Mappack III in the works
Imagine a map played out in a giant worm's stomach. Head is a door, and if possible, opens for any team. Odd, eh?
