[ CandleJack sez: Yes, but it will be incredibly laggy if you play online.]
Couldn't we work out the lag issues? And by we, I mean Lord Tim.

Re: Lord Tim's "IRC Scene"
I discussed possible multiplayer options with Tim when he was first starting this project a couple days ago. With the current scripts you would only really be able to get units, maybe change their orders, and get updates on what of yours is getting killed.
So really, all I can see us doing is making the usual single-player game able to be influenced from the outside in fairly simple ways.

Re: Lord Tim's "IRC Scene"
I hate to ruin the parade of good stuff, but it said that there was an error.
EDIT: Oops. I accidentally only unzipped the map. Re-trying with actual Lua stuff in. XD

Re: Lord Tim's "IRC Scene"
This doesn't work, at all.
All I found was a shitty scene, and no IRC stuff at all.
The scene was just flatlands with some sand.
Edit: oh, I need to start it from the campaign screen?
Oh cool, it works.

The scene was just flatlands with some sand. Turns out, hey! You didn't read the thread, where I clearly stated that you had to play in Campaign mode, or else the Lua script wouldn't run. Also, I have been thinking about online multiplayer, but I'm gonna make a few other mods before I work on that. The problem is not lag. I don't think it would lag very badly. The problem is packing up all the information in the game. Currently, without documentation, I can barely get a quarter of what is happening in the game. Also, the current GUI display options suck, you do not know how annoying it is to even get the IRC text on the screen.

Re: Lord Tim's "IRC Scene"
So, what, this is a SOME kind of multiplayer? It sounds pretty neato.

Re: Lord Tim's "IRC Scene"
You should make some sort of program that remotely loads scripts on another persons game through the console.

Re: Lord Tim's "IRC Scene"
If we can put our own Lua modules in cortex, then surely the possibilities are now endless?

The way the scene loops means that I constantly shoot myself in the back of the head.

Re: Lord Tim's "IRC Scene"
All this is is acting as an irc client you guys. This doesn't mean ANYTHING for multiplayer. There isn't even keypress detection functions. Hurr.

Re: Lord Tim's "IRC Scene"
Been done in Lua before (in GMod, and much more elegantly), but since this came out so quickly after B21 was released, congradulations. I like the specific B21 commands; now, make it multiplayer via IRC, amirite? I'd love seeing everybody running around as a green clone over the internet. EDIT!: Jackzon47 wrote: [ CandleJack sez: Yes, but it will be incredibly laggy if you play online.]

Real time online play is impossible, but you can still influence the AI.
