Man. Now I've got to go and finish up my game and make it playable too.

Yours looks good though.

Now that I think about it, I think this'll become a 2D version of Freelancer.

Well, Freelancer is definetly one of the influances. Damn I loved playing Freelancer muiltplayer. One time a stranger helped me on a Diamond run from that german place to Kursari through the back water systems... that was one of the most fun trips in my life in a game and I got ALOT of money from it!

This. Game. ROCKS. I love it. It IS like a 2D freelancer, except easier to mod. If you ever decide to make this money-cost, I would pay for it.

Solarace: Proycon Compact will never be money-cost, maybe it's sequels, but at most I will be adding a Donate button to each download thread for people who would like to support me. :)

Holy ♥♥♥♥, seriously. I know a guy that is making a similar game, with a lot of the same influences. When his becomes more playable. I'll give you a link.

I don't know if this has been addressed yet, but I had to copy the ship designs out of the faction folders for the game to run. Oh and why did the start planet I was on get insta raped by an armada of alien ships? :(

1. Because you need to download the build31 EXE and put those ships back into their directories. For the first several minutes that I have it uploaded, it was the build29 EXE in the build31 zip file. I've fixed that now.

2. Bad karma.

I get this when I open the file.

Nevermind, fixed. Had to download the full file at the forums.

Edit again: Ugg, now it says it can't open Master Index. Something's obviously wrong...

whats the reasoning behind not being able to fire and turn at the same time?
im not really feeling the whole combat system to be honest.
but everything else is great, can't wait for some more releases.

I haven't played it yet, but I can spew out a 'bug not a feature' explanation- "Hey man, it's a huge spaceship. The maneuvering systems and weapons are on the same power grid because we cheaped out, and anyway we can't hit a moving target."
Also, do want carriers with fighter squadrons. Makkee-makkee chop-chop, por-favlox.

I can encrypt the game files and not let people mod at all. You'll like that? I'm not sure why you keep bringing that up because CC is just as easy to god mod.

Honestly, I can move and fire all the time. It must be a problem with your PC or keyboard that you can't hold spacebar and use the arrow keys at the same time. :???: I could make weapons also linked to the mouse but that'll make it hard to target things. *Edit* Someone else is having this problem too. This is not how I intended it and I'm going to see about a way around it.

After I finish the basic mission system, make the player info screen actually usefull, and get in-system patrols going, I'm going to see about making missiles and carriers.

I'm not complaining, I just enjoy it.

A difficulty setting would be nice. I run out of ships to kill.

I think the files that determine the spawns are editable, based on the fact that he can use repetetive file loading to make certain ships more prevalent.

Just copy-paste the enemy ship lists a few times?

Post Re: Solarace: Proycon Compact (Alenth Approved)
wait wait wait, how is it a ripoff from BS:F (or w/e)
In BS you steer with a mouse. In solarace you steer only with a keyboard... etc.
Just bacause the envirioment is set in space, you fly with a space ship and shoot at other ships, doesnt mean its a ripoff from BS...
