Actually, every calculation on a computer is completely deterministic, that is, two random number generators will produce the exact same sequence of numbers if you give them the same seed (starting number) so in actuality you would just need to transmit the key presses of each player rather than the position of every pixel in the game. Of course you would need to implement some form of lock stepping. You can't bolt on multiplayer onto a game; it has to be designed in from the start and requires a lot of changes to the structure of the game. That and network code can be a nightmare to get it to work efficiently without lag and be able to deal with packet loss and what not. Just saying, it can be done but not for CC because it would need to be scrapped, basically.

"finally"!?

This game has taken years just to get to THIS level, so don't think you have waited for such a long time.

AND NOTE THE BIG HUGE FREAKING STICKY TELLING YOU THERE WILL BE NO ONLINE PLAY EVER.

I apologise for any grammatical or logical mistakes but Im tired and typing this on a Wii.

ahh that WILL be funny. Roadkill: yes would make you think that that means they want data to focus on putting it in. I say yes, it would be very awesome to have online play, but that doesn't mean data should add it.

1 more thing, I think it is a very bad thing about there not ever going to be a WAN/LAN option on CC, in fact I think that is the biggest possible mistake ever to be made in the entire history of CC and I seriously hope that DATA will consider changing his mind over this (as I cant afford to pay him a million $'s)

I'll put it to a vote anyways even though it probably wont make a diffrence - I'll run the poll for a week.

Keep up the good work DATA Realms! :-)

First off- it's Data. It's not an acronym. Second, think. Data is one man, and I believe that he himself has stated that he doesn't know much about coding for networks. You know how games with internet multiplayer lag, right? And this can cause weird stuff even in simple games programmed by teams of people, some of whom specialize in coding for networks, right? And you know how slow CC runs on your computer?
Put two and two together.
And read the stickies.

All you need to do is transmit what kind of object it is, the position,
rotation, and when it turns into terrain, for every object on the course.

I heard you can compress those things amazingly.

Let the terrain subtraction engine do the rest.

I came up with this before I knew that everybody
on the entire frikken Earth except for me has uploads
speeds faster than my abysmal

Couldn't you just send what the unit being controlled by the player does? Then, assuming your mods and stuff are the same, everything will be the same. Maybe, just to make sure, check the entire thing every couple of seconds to see if they match. Unless there is a way to make things random. Then you'd have to use something else.

Ignore LordTim, he's still under the illusion that he's both good at Lua and that Lua will be full integrated in build 21. (it won't be oh no)

Nah, you're dumb. There will never be online play because Cortex Command is not an online game.

Majority of the gamers will never find out about CC in the near future.
I don't see why you see this as
Online mode + game = insta 10/10.

Online in games suck.

Most gamers don't see good games as awesome realistic graphics, or content.
They see it as gameplay and replay value, which CC has lots of both.
