Post ITT: Answers to most CC related questions will be answered
Notes: This is not an imitation of Lambda's ITT thread.
New people should read this to avoid making threads about these problems.
-------------------------------------------
1Q. It says that "Slish.wav" cannot be found, but it's still in my Base.rte folder. How do I fix?

1A. Restart your computer.
---------------------------------------
2Q. It says that "Base.rte/Devices/Null.bmp" is not found. Help?

2A. Whatever you do, don't copy it to devices.
Change "Base.rte/Devices/Null.bmp" into "Base.rte/Null.bmp"
---------------------------------------
3Q. I downloaded a mod and it keeps crashing, but when deleted the game works. How do I fix?

3A. Contact the modmaker and wait for a fix.
---------------------------------------
4Q. The game crashes alot in gameplay, and I have like, 20 mods. How do I fix?

4A. There is no direct fix. Some mods cause memory leaks, some worse than others. Next build should take care of this. But a tip can help.
Don't use as many mods as you do.
--------------------------------------
5Q. The game lags ; How do I make it not lag?

5A. Use less mods.
EDIT:I recently gained info thanks to Uberhen.
go to Settings.ini, set Postprocessing to 0. However, this makes glows not render.
--------------------------------------
6Q. I messed CC up. I uninstalled it. And when I try to enter a key to another CC copy, it says it's still in use. How do I fix.

6A. Email Data and tell him to reset key.
-------------------------------------
7Q. Who is Data?

7A. Data is this game's creator. It's been in production in 7 or 8 years now.
Also, Data stands for Daniel Tabar.
-------------------------------------
8Q. Who makes all these awesome sprites?

8A. I think his name was Arne. But he is better known as Prom, Promster, or Prometheous.
-------------------------------------

And some advice.
1. DRLFF is brutal.
2. Good grammar is recommended.
3. Do not release your first mod, ever. That is to protect you from being flamed to ashes. Of course, I never released mine. At least, not yet. Don't expect to see it.
4. Certain people don't like to get mad.
5. Call me Roy or RGB.
6. Punctuate!
7. Lurk first. You'll learn first hand how this forum can be.

And extra tips from TFSR.

2. Always go for a second opinion on advice you're given. Always.
3. There is a negative correlation between intelligence and how wise someone attempts to appear.
4. For ♥♥♥♥'s sake use spellcheck.
5. Read the stickies.
6. Don't ask about upcoming features.
7. You will be judged on what you write, and sometimes just by rubbing people the wrong way.
8. Strangely enough, this forum functions. It will continue to function no matter what you do or don't do.
9. Use the Minor Mod Compendium. It'll help you to mod.
10. Color 313131 makes a line that is the second or below in your post invisible because it is the color of the background. This is useless advice, like the rest of this thread.

Which mods have "memory leaks"? o_O

Plenty lag, sure, but I didn't think any broke the hardcode.

All mods.
Some cause memory leaks faster.

Change "Base.rte/Devices/Null.bmp" into "Base.rte/Null.bmp"

At least somebody gets it. Here's a more in-depth explaination:
1. Get a text editor that can do search and replace, preferably in multiple files at once.
2. Backup and open all .ini files that make reference to null.bmp in said text editor, or all .ini files if you want to be safe.
3. Do a search and replace, with the search "Base.rte/Devices/Null.bmp", the replace "Base.rte/Null.bmp".
4. Save all files.
5. Pray you didn't mess it up somehow (very important step).
6. Smile as it magically works.

Again!?

Go to base.rte. Open Actors.ini. Scroll down near the end of the file. Uncomment (remove the "//" before) the Clones.ini.

You might want to add something about this.

5A. Sorry, but there is no workaround/fix.

Add that setting (Post Processing = 0) in Settings.ini reduces lag. Running CC in fullscreen seems to help a bit as well.

EDIT: Sorry for double post.

Why does setting Post Processing to 0 make it lag less?

Because then CC doesn't have to render all the glows. It reduces lag on my computer, at least.

There's usually an inverse correlation between post count and IQ.
Also IRC is where the intelligent people are but it's generally a good idea to not go there.

Ironically, that is also because the IRC is where the unintelligent people are.

Also, you should be telling everyone to release their first mods. Just release them in the Minor Mods thread. That way, they can get constructive advice and help. Instead of getting trampled over by mean people.
