Post I can't find the error!
Okay, Yesterday I thought it would be funny to make a character mod of Barney. I started but then all heck broke loose and it didn't work and now all my hopes and dreams of running around as Barney with a chainsaw are crushed.

not only that but all my hopes of playing CC are crushed too! Every time I've started up CC it tells me, "error cannot find Barney.rte" even though I deleted all the files! I've also deleted every mod I had on there previously, AND I've reinstalled Cortex.

I have a feeling it's somewhere in the code SOMEWHERE, but I have no idea where or where to find it.

also, please don't post telling me I'm an idiot, because I'm already quite aware of that.

Check Index.ini.

I couldn't find it in there.

Here's what the error says exactly...

Abort in file .\Managers\InstanceMan.cpp, line 153, because: Failed to find the Barney.rte Data Module!

Where do I find \Managers\InstanceMan.cpp???

ugh, I feel like a complete idiot :P

Odd, decidedly odd.

With no expertise whatsoever, I'm going to hazard a guess that the part of the .exe that registers mods thinks your still needs to be found despite you not referencing it any any .rte.

I suggest unregistering, uninstalling, and deleting the folder and everything in it except the mods you want to keep.

Then re-install and see if it works.

Or just do a search in cortex command.exe for it. You may have made it hidden.
Try that.
I really don't know.
That's wierd if you deleted it, but it's still there

There must be a reference to your old mod somewhere in some .ini file.
You could use the windows search funtion to find it.

Ok, I couldn't get rid of it but I did install The Mod Manager and unselected it. It works fine now THANK GOODNESS!!! But I think I'm going to leave a Barney Mod to someone who knows what they're doing

I figured it out. It's my !@#$ Vista.

If I run it as administrator, it goes away completely.
