We have far to many question threads, so I've taken it upon myself to create a FAQ thread. I also request a sticky, but not a lock; I want people to suggest stuff.


Q: What does ITT mean?

Q: Will there be online play?
A: NO. STOP ♥♥♥♥ ASKING US ABOUT THIS!

Q: I keep on getting an error related to Null.bmp!
A: Put Null.bmp into the Devices folder in Base.rte.

Q: s0 i r teh facepunch gmodder. i herd der was lua modz?!!!11
A: You're an idiot, Lua will only be in B21 for scripting maps.

Q: How do I learn to mod?
A: Go to the Mod Making section, and check out the stickies.

Q: How do you make sprites/.gifs/images?
A: I recommend you check out the Art section.

Q: What are Activities? Why do people keep talking about them?
A: Activities.ini is the file that controls what enemies will spawn when playing a skirmish game.

A nice idea and very helpful to new people but my first suggestion would be to remove the ridiculous stuff that do not help new people, like:

A: Don't listen to him, he just sounds smart like an idiot.
and
Q: Is Jack a homosexual?
A: No, after recent studies, it has been proven, he is NOT a homosexual.

and my second would be to change answers like:
NO. STOP fudge ASKING US ABOUT THIS!
to something like: No, never. Please do not keep asking this in the future., thus increasing friendly vibes and politeness by about 382%.

Jesus Lambda, why devote an entire question to hating me when it could've been used for a smarter question?
Also, I do know about modding.
I just don't actually feel like modding.

This is a dumb thread and should never be stickied. If it is stickied it should be renamed to AN EXAMPLE OF WHAT NOT TO DO.

Lua is going to be on more than maps in B21.

Oh, hey, I found a problem here.
See, what you do, is you:

(A) Post in the mod's topic and tell the modder to update his dependencies.

(B 1) Download a program that can find and replace (like Textpad), and do a search for "Base.rte/Devices/Null.bmp" and a replace with "Base.rte/Null.bmp" on all the .ini files in the mod's directory.

Or, alternatively,

(B 2) Wait until the modder fixes it. This option takes less effort.

Or C punch the modder in the face for using an eight month old standard.

No, see, you're a highly visible idiot. Some members are more noticeable than others.
Some are visible because they turn anyone who disagrees with them into the city of Dresden on February 16th, 1945.
They are mostly those who know what they're talking about.
Others simply post frequently. Then there's you- you post frequently but have no ♥♥♥♥ clue about the subject, and then you Capitalize Random Words Within A Sentence Because You've Never Heard Of Italics And You Don't Even Capitalize Like A Title But Instead Capitalize Every Last Word In One Incredibly Long And Boring Sentence Jumping From Topic To Topic It Was Really Quite Hypnotic.
I make no claims as to who is who within those categories. Some people don't fit into them.
But this is actually a good warning- it's like telling a child to avoid the man offering them candy. It sounds good, but soon you're being dragged into the van and you do not want to be in that van.
Luckily, bad advice is relatively temporary in this case, but still.
