I'd like to see a toned down CC for the PSP. :3

Toning down CC:
Remove destructable terrain
Remove actor gibbing
Remove glows
Emitters release less particles
Less objects dropped on screen at once

Oh hi. So, we have CC without ANY OF THE FEATURES THAT MAKE IT CC.

Brilliant idea! :P

Oh, come, I'm sure Cortex Command could be beaten and molded into a package suitable for a conssole, the problem is whether anyone will bother, essentially, since it will no doubt be a huge amount of work.

Oh come on.
The uber accuracy of physics could be cut a bit and it'd work.
Glow can be eliminated since on a PSP's screen it wouldn't be much to worry about.
Gibbing - less parts to gibz00r maybe.
And yes, emitter pow44h could be cut a bit.
Remember that the PSP doesn't pack a 18" monitor.
It has just it's tiny ~4" (I think less) screen. So therefore we get slightly smaller models and maps for which the physics calculations ain't so immense.

p.s. me not english peeeplz so xcuse mah mistakez.

Actually, the Wii probably couldn't handle the Physics.

Whoops.
I just like the word physics.
Na, CC should stay on the computer, 'tis better that way.

I managed to run Cortex Command smoothly on an Eee PC 701, so eh.

Eee's CPU: 900 MHz Intel Celeron-M ULV 353, underclocked at 630 MHz, x86 architecture.
Wii's CPU: 729 MHz IBM Broadway, PowerPC architecture.

Edit:
I think the only issue would be with the RAM. The Wii has 64 MB while CC requires about 128 MB.

Fair enough.
I think CC should stick to computer though.
At least until every game developer in the land is asking Data for the rights.

Nobody said it wouldn't.
Pretty much everyone, in fact, has said that console CC is a stupid idea.

Question: didn't Data say he was optimizing the game so it would run better? It might not even be the first time he ends up doing this. I assume that in the future, the game will be nicer to less powerful systems.

Also, despite the lower ram, I would think that the PS3's rather intricate cell processor setup could chew threw the calculations necessary to make CC run smoothly. Not that I'm supporting the PS3 specifically. Just a thought.

Actually, now I'm sorta curious as to how CC works exactly. Does the creation of a bunch of particles result in the creation of a bunch of separate threads? Or is it just all handled in-line? Everyone talks about RAM a lot, but I wonder how it actually uses the RAM precisely.

Data has said on IRC that he wants to optimize the game tremendously. As of now, it's basically a slapped together engine that's lucky to run as well as it does. After he finalizes features, Data can work on improving the engine itself, and how it handles things.

Darlos, the PS3 wouldn't run CC well at all unless Data specifically threaded the game to all eight processors, which is supposedly a bear to do.

The 360 has 3 cores, and it could probably be ported to XNA, since XNA uses C#.
