Re: Enemy AI Using Effective Cover
It sometimes happends... But it's not a concedience. I think. There are also some tricks like that. I just didn't see such things in early builds. Maybe it's AI,and maybe.... Did the Blue Clone with the Soldier wake up after it?

Re: Enemy AI Using Effective Cover
The AI do do some strange things that make it seem smart sometimes. The best coincidence ever was when a clone rocketed into the engine on the dropship he came from, then the engine exploded and it rolled around. In other words, an AI clone sacrificed himself to send the Dropship rolling ontop of my minature army. Then I got pissed and ordered a MPAM.

Re: AI Discussion
Yeah, I changed the "Enemy Using Effective Cover" thread into "AI Discussion".
So, one thing I've noticed, is that the auto mining AI thing. In builds 14-18, it was pretty good and funtioned properly. But since build 19, all they do is dance around firing the digger randomly. Than, when you switch the AI to something else, they do the same thing.

Re: AI Discussion
the AI gold-dig mode is pretty broken at the moment. i use go-to if i cant be bothered digging myself. i cant wait for an AI update, as im pretty sick of them attempting to meander into my base one by one, with me running up behind them and stabbing them in the back. there has been one time when they actually watched me go over their head, then shot an RPG at me. yes i dropped a raiju on them but still. this is what the AI should do, and i hope it does. wow, that post went nowhere

On Topic: There's also that one problem where for some reason a clone decides to leave his dropship at an angle so that when he jetpacks he goes flying horizontally into a wall. You know what would be neat? If you've ever seen Final Fantasy the Spirits Within, they drop out of ships and shoot big blobs of orange goo below themselves to land in. Probably not feasible in CC though..

Probably not feasible in CC though.. I know what you mean (not the final fantasy part). Sometimes clones will be launched out of their drop ship and into its engines, killing themselves and anyone around them. Oddly, it only happens to computer-controled ships/clones.

Oddly, it only happens to computer-controled ships/clones. Sometimes they miss the engines, and just go head on into a hill. But yeah, I didn't really think about it never happening when I was delivering troops from a dropship. Diary of a Clone: 0900 hours: Today I am getting my first taste of combat. I am getting ready to be dropped into the heat of a firefight. 0910 hours: BLUE FLAMES IS HAWT!

Re: AI Discussion
Okay, I found another AI bug: If you do a long string of "Go To" command dots, after the first few, your actor will automaticly switch back to "Sentry" mode, without finishing all the "Go To" commands. Wit those two commands out of the picture, all gold mining has to be done manually, taking up time and keeping you from defending you base.

Re: AI Discussion
that or you could reset a smaller path. on my starting actor test level (i have the intro dissabled) i used to have hordes of gunslinger shinobi spawn. they would usually stand at the would be entrance to my brain bunker, and then occasionally jet up ridiculously fast, and eventually explode meatily all over the place. why doesnt the AI try to dig with guns if it has no digger?

Quote: why doesnt the AI try to dig with guns if it has no digger? Guns and diggers are both in te same device class (HDFirearm), so maybe the AI gets them confused.

Re: AI Discussion
fair point XD however, using the standard darklone shotgun i just dug a hole like the one they would have needed in 10 seconds. yes, with a digger it would have been 5-6, but still. *drops it*
