Re: Cortex Command - Two Computers, 1 Game
This is so cool. I hope this appears in the devlog.
But what about FOUR computers, ONE game?
EDIT: I also PM'd Data about this topic.

Re: Cortex Command - Two Computers, 1 Game
I was actually going to consider doing this with LogMeIn, or the other one that I forget the name of that are used for computer support, although I assumed that the crazy lag would make it less than fun for the connecting computer.

Zalo, you are officially awesome. I've been trying to figure out how to do this since the day I found this game.

Hey zalo. What's your computer(s) specs?
It must be some sort of super machine to play LAN CC.

No.
It wasn't his processor having the strain, it was his connection, and seeing as it was on a LAN he'll be getting something like 48MB/sec if his router is similar to mine.

It must be some sort of super machine to play LAN CC. TD is right, it was the connection, but if you really want to know. Sending Computer (The one with CC on it) 1.8 GHz Single Core Processor 1 GB of RAM And nVidia 5500 FX (It was good in the day) Recieving Computer (with remote assistance on it) 3.0 Ghz Duel Core 4 GB of RAM nVidia 8800 GT The Graphics card may have counted for the Remote Assistance.

Re: Cortex Command - Two Computers, 1 Game
Ok, so say, I have a somewhat "meh" computer. And a beast one. The beast PC has CC, and can play it nonlaggy.
And the awesome one is host while the other is client. So........ On either side it will........
1. Have insane lag if connection sucks badly? 2. Play nonlaggy with an even awesomer connection?
and can I play with mods?

Re: Cortex Command - Two Computers, 1 Game
You start a two player game, remote player watches your screen and contributes commands. There are no restrictions outside bandwidth for sending a full screen display to someone else. Outside of a LAN, this method still wont be practical.

You should also remember this only uses one copy of the game and Data also said he's going to optimize it in the next build. This was conducted under the worst conditions, but it still worked.

Re: Cortex Command - Two Computers, 1 Game
This was on a LAN system.
Your average LAN cable sends information at about 50 MEGABYTES per second.
Your averate INTERNET connection sends information at a few hundred kilobytes per second.
There's a major difference.
Even with optimization of the game you would only get higher framerates host side. The client only gets information as fast as Remote Desktop sends it.

Exactly. This isn't going to work for anyone outside of a house. No matter what your connection is. However, it could make 2 players in the same room less crowded.

Sheesh, talk about 4P on the same computer. That make CC matches less sweaty. Also, Has anyone thought of a CC tournament (I know, never going to happen, but still cool.)

If you look, he makes previews for lots of games, seems like he just likes to advertise.
