HO-HO-HO BABY!
That was my reaction to seeing the sprite.
That's ♥♥♥♥ sexy!

Wow, light clone looks brilliant, looked boring before, now it looks like a ninja/scout, which is what it is.
Nice work man.

Some more re-working. This time, its the EM Cannon.

Long story short, the original sucked. It was a bit TOO explosive for being a multi-purpose repeater (it was easy to blow the gun up if you fired too close to things), the fact that you held it low made the terrain get in the way a lot, and I just didn't like the sprite anymore.

So, to solve these problems, I made a new sprite, and its a shoulder-mounted weapon. You should be able to clear obstacles much better with it. Also, the explosion caused by it is very small, so you need to pretty much score a direct hit with it. I also made it fire a bit slower and hold less rounds, since it was a bit too spammy. Also, new firing sound effect and prettier explosions!

THANK YOU =3

Now my friends wont spaz at me for saying its too cheap XD
Looks great too =3

I'd like to see a new light based weapon, something like an orbital beam.

Yeah, like that nuclear laser you were talking about.

Eh? I don't remember talking about a nuclear laser.

Ah yes, the nuclear powered laser.

See, lasers work by causing some kind of material to react in a certain way and have it emit a lot of light, usually through electricity or an external light that sets off the reaction. One such way to do this is to use a material that reacts well to a huge concussive force. Line the inside of a chamber with such a material, then put an explosive in the center of it. When the explosive goes off, it causes the material to make a whole bunch of light, for a short-lived laser.

The most powerful type of explosive laser, as you might guess, involves a nuclear explosion, and a proportional amount of reactive material. So, the result would be a big, short-lived, but immensely strong laser. Between shots, you'd probably replace the entire explosion chamber, like some kind of big magazine.

This would definitely be some kind of large heavy weapon mounted on some kind of mobile platform.

I think making a Magnesium-powered laser would work.
Magnesium burns really bright, and you burn it behind the lenses to focus it into a powerful laser.

Eh... its not a burning thing. Its some kind of crazy quantum physics stuff involving photons exciting the particles of a substance so they get excited and then release more photons when their electrons move around. Basically, the substance - called the lasing medium - doesn't really burn out. It just keeps getting its particles excited and then releasing photons. Then you can do stuff by setting up the resonance chamber right to get all these different patterns of light generating and bouncing around to make different kinds of lasers. Of course, the types of lasers also depends on the lasing medium and what it can output when excited.

So, that.

Ok...
I vaguely understood that.

But magnesium does burn, or at least oxidizes like ♥♥♥♥ when you set it alight.

Yes, it does.

Congralations.

Oxidation != laser light. You can't just focus light into a laser; it'd just make a flashlight.

Laser is an acronym. Light Amplified by Stimulated Emission of Radiation.

It has nothing to do with burning or the amount of light you can produce with oxidation. It requires light to be focused in a way that you just can't with an unstable production medium.

Most current systems use highly toxic chemicals. There's also free-electron lasers, which have the benefit of not leaking highly deadly fluids, at a power reduction.

Yeah, he may not be listening...

Anyway, speaking of lasers, I'd like to ask you guys: which do you think is a more effective weapon overall? The EM Cannon or the Pulse Laser? I can't quite figure it out. Whichever one we decide on will end up costing more.

Also, does anyone have any thoughts on any of my other weapon costs? Once you get up into the more powerful stuff, it's hard to decide what should be considered more powerful than what, especially when some things are good in certain situations that others aren't. So, if anybody thinks that something doesn't have an accurate cost to it, let me know.

I am listening, I just don't completely understand the concept.
Why can't you just focus light? That's how a magnifying glass works when you burn ants.

I realise that most modern lasers are powered by some weird means, (chemical or otherwise) but I'm still exploring the worlds of chemistry and physics.

Anyway, what sort of "material that reacts well to a huge concussive force" are you proposing?
Does such a material exist/could exist in the future?
I imagine it would be some sort of really cheeky mechanism to absorb the force and convert it into a usable energy.

Honestly I feel the EM cannon is a tad more powerful against units, though it takes a couple more seconds to vaporize its target. The pulse laser takes a long arse time to reload. So I think up the cost of the EM laser a bit all of my mods' contents only cost 1oz anyways! Thank you simple ass INI coding! TEEHEE
