To get DP fast is to invite people, and tell them to check their e mail, if they except, you get stars towards a badge series and obtain 200 DP!

No way, I don't want to loose Datapoints... can't you just tell me, wouldn't that be a lot easier? I think it would be very helpful and save me some time.

Question, if I spend my data points, do they still count towards going up a level?

No, you can't pick them up as far as I can tell.
And yes, when you are making Datapoints, datapoints earned and owned are entirely different.
Earned always goes up when you invite somebody, take a mission or make a mission. Earned datapoints can't be spent.
Doing that or anything else that you do to get datapoints such as looting crates will also add to your owned datapoints. Those are the ones that you spend.
Sort of confusing, but not quite.
And dang it, I'm only 7 DP away from level 2

So if I have 945 datapoints, and only need 246 to get to level 2, if I spend it all on armour, portals, and lightposts, will I still only need 246 to get to level 2?
