Perhaps when you do the industry part of the mod you should have a "darklone factory" with Abomb emitters to spawn new darklones as well as a berserker unit/brain.

Ehrm... nah. **SORT OF UPDATE** I carried out yet another round of re-balancing. I've made the armor for both the standards and heavies weaker, BUT they can both take more actual damage. Even the lights can take more damage. Maybe people will find this more acceptable. Also, I've toned down the penetrative power of things like the pulse laser and the sniper rifle, since the old levels of power aren't really necessary now that the heavy isn't so rediculously resistant to everything. My clones still have the advantages of being both fast and resistant to gibbing, both through impacts and high numbers of wounds. You pretty much just have to damage them to death.

And that's the coolest way to do it. Hooray for ragdoll physics! *edit* Much better, although it still takes the AK a bit to actually penetrate a heavy, maybe next tweak just tone it down a smidgen.

See, an AK-47 isn't rediculously powerful or anything. It's an assault rifle. It fires assault rifle rounds, which are some of the smaller rounds among rifle rounds. Now, such rounds are capable of reliably piercing typical body armor that normally stop handgun bullets, which is the sort of armor my standards have. My heavies have stronger armor, though. So they go the next step up and are able to resist assault rifle rounds, and require higher calibers, such as ones used by battle rifles and sniper rifles. At least they aren't able to resist battle rifles like they used to. I figure in the future of CC, the vanilla weapons will include some higher caliber weapons similar to my own. So I don't really feel the need to knock my heavies down any further as far as resisting shots goes.

Fair enough, and if you've got the heavy, you've got weapons which can hurt it.

Not to rain on your parade here, but the AK fires a 7.62mm round. Which is pretty powerful in terms of ammunition.

Re: DarKlone Technologies - Updated 4/6/08
Indeed, remember force = the sum of all the mass vectors times their velocities. This usually means that you can have a lower mass at a higher speed exert the same force on an object. If it has a smaller tip, it concentrates this force in a smaller area thus having a higher pressure which usually results in greater penetration power. Also remember, density of the materials is just as important as size, shape, and velocity of the round. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Assault_rifleSo yeah an AK is pretty powerful. Pretty much an anti-armored infantry weapon. Recently you've had things like Dyneema to counter it, and not even the soft fibers but the rigid plates. It's tough really, and though I imagine Darklones would have more advanced armor, one can't assume this is the present day AK either. Not telling you to tone it down. However, it'd be cool to work on an opposing faction to the Darklones.

I'd probably describe Darklone armour with a reference to 40k. Normal = 3+ Power armour Heavy = 2+ Tactical dreadnought armour

Lambda wrote: Not to rain on your parade here, but the AK fires a 7.62mm round. Which is pretty powerful in terms of ammunition. Oh, now you've brought down the hammer. Okay, so the AK-47 does indeed fire a 7.62mm round. It's a 7.62x39mm to be exact. It's twice the mass of the 5.56x45mm round used in the M16 and other modern assault rifles. Still, due to its overall performance, it's put in the same class as the 5.56 and other assault rifle rounds. The 5.56 replaced the 7.62x51mm round a while back. This was a "full powered" cartridge, and rifles that used it are considered battle rifles. Those rounds are still used today, but usually in more specialized guns such as sniper rifles and machine guns. They were deemed too powerful (read: had too much recoil) for typical mid-range fighting with fully automatic rifles. The 7.62x51mm is not only larger than the 7.62x39mm, but also just has more gunpowder behind it. So, in terms of ammunition, the 7.62x39mm you're referring to is NOT pretty powerful. Despite being the heavier of the "intermediate" assault rifle rounds, it packs less of a punch than you'd expect simply because it doesn't have as much force behind it. Perhaps you were confused with the similarly labeled, 7.62x51mm round, which was used more often in the M14 and other rifles back in the day. My arguments make it seem like such full-powered cartridges simply wouldn't be used in the future, but I figure with the advent of more powerful body armor becoming more common that such cartridges would see a comeback.

I love how the bullet comes out of the neck at a different angle, it just looks so beautiful.

Yeah, it's weird though, sometimes when you shoot objects with high sharpness high speed guns they fly all over the joint, and go through everything.

Holy crap, this is awesome! First post here btw. I fell in love with this game some time ago, but it's not until recently I picked it up and started messing around with the mods. Thanks a bunch!

Well, I GUESS it's realistic... disregarding the whole "bullet re-appears somewhere far behind the actor it went through" thing, anyway.
