PS3 + Computer + Internet = ?
So, I have my computer running, USUALLY in the middle of an intense game, and someone turns the PS3 on in the living room. And guess what? My internet goes out. Windows tells me that another device on the network has my IP.. So I've come to this conclusion. The PS3 stole mah IPz D= Anybody got any ideas on how to fix it? It's gotta be the PS3, because this computer is on a fixed IP, if I change it, I can't connect to anything anymore. It usually fixes itself after a few seconds, but it's long enough to cause me to lose the connection to the game. And since I've been the host of the only online games I've been playing recently, we lose all the progress since the game started. Which can be over 3 hours of work, mind. You guis gotta help me...

Means that you need to assign a fixed IP to everything in the house that uses an IP. Or set your computer's IP to something really high so that it won't be taken. I.E. 192.168.1.200 or whatever.

A lot of times, ISPs don't support DHCP routing, James. NAT causes problems with it.
You should at least try it, though, Jay. Try to enable DHCP. It is a router service that gives IPs out to all devices connected based on availability.
Or you could just try giving the PS3 its own IP.

Re: PS3 + Computer + Internet = ?
Okay, so this thread escaped THORdeth. Sorry for huge necro, but I have an update: After many days of frustration trying to get it its own static IP (it didn't like the DNS servers that all of the computers on the network use, apparently) it's finally set up. Also we've HAD DHCP. For a while. However, even though my computer's on a static IP and the PS3's on a static IP, there's no visible way for it to be disconnecting me, but it still is. We're (me and my closest relatives) all stumped. Maybe somebody here is more knowledgeable in the subject than us...
