Post Need help with my mod!
I just wanted to test my modding skills and I made a regular spike, but I have a few problems that I'm asking the community to help me out with... Some how my spike is like a rectangle but it isn't (It is suppose to be sharp, you know to spike through clones ) when I drop it on landscape it should got like a spike through ground but its like a rectangle that just sits on it! If you want me to post the mod (lets not call it a mod yet) I can! Thanks.

I think i've experienced this before... I'm not sure how i fixed it,
but try opening palette.bmp with your image editing program,
make the canvas the same size as the spike, open up the
spike and copy-paste it into the palette file. Then, re-fill
all the purple color, and then overwrite the old file, and see
if it works.
Do tell me if my instructions are hard to follow, and want me to
go a bit more in depth...
I hope it helps ^_^

Hmm... I don't know how that would help, but I'll try!

-Ok I did it but nothing changed and I found something out! When I go to the actor editor and open up my spike I can see the purple stuff still around it and the icon is still wuzzly. Heres a pic!

It's not in palette.

I give this thread about...two and a half hours until it's locked by a mod reposting the guide to putting things in palette.

That must be my cue.

HALP! My sprite looks all weird ingame.. and when I select it, the game crashes! I checked the sprite in a graphics program and it looks fine! WTF?!

That is because your sprite is not 8-bit and doesn't match the CC palette. I won't tell you what 8-bit is. If you don't know, Wikipedia it.

Simply decreasing the color depth to 8-bit won't help, you'll only have the colors that the sprite uses. It won't match the CC palette, only 1 of 2 requirements. Sure, the mod won't crash now; but your sprite will look like an acid trip.

To get it to match the CC palette, memorize the dimensions of the screwed up sprite. 34 by 12 pixels, for example.

Next, make a COPY of palette.bmp (in Base.rte) and open it up in a graphics editing program. Resize the copy of palette to the exact dimensions of your sprite.

Next, copy the screwed up sprite into the palette copy, having it fit perfectly over all of the colors.

Save, and there! You now have a sprite that's 8-bit and has all the CC colors. You'll have to do this for every custom sprite that acts the same way.

Not locked yet, I have a feeling there might be some more issues.

Nope doesn't work, do I have to stretch the pallet for the spike?
