Post Re: Alright, Gentlemen, Listen Up.
zef here. Apologies for the long post, but as I am newly arrived to the safe zones I feel the need to ask some questions and propose a couple of suggestions. As I have not had time to review all documentation available, please forgive me if my questions and or suggestions have been answered or suggested before.

On the suggestion to drown Zombies. Zombies don't drown, and will more or less float as a normal human would. So blowing up a bridge with them on it would have the following outcomes:

1. Zombies dead in initial blast (minimal compared to amount you propose to have on a bridge, unless of course we have a huge supply of plastique/Semtex H/C4).
2. Zombies wail around in water for a while, and eventually end up on land (you have a bridge, therefore you are not going to be far from land).
3. Ruined bridge.

Now, if there is a bridge leading to a base which is the only form of entrance by land, then it makes sense tactically speaking to wire it with explosives should we have suitable amounts at our disposal and the appropriate personal able to do this safely (ie: trained demolitions experts, possibly military). This would not be done primarily to kill zombies, although that will undoubtedly happen in a small amount, but more as a last option should you face sure annihilation from an advancing enemy.

I think the idea of specifically attempting to lure zombies onto a bridge should be shelved, as it would be a waste of resources, time, a bridge, and potentially life. There are other options for ambushing such an "unintelligent enemy" which would work more effectively. Instead bridges should be used as a choke point to slow enemy advances and take out as many as possible via other means before resorting to demolition should it be required.

I could not find suitable information on how infection transfers, other than that it has been known to transfer via Bites. Is infection transferable in a similar manner to most pathogens? And to what extent: will a drop of blood infect, or will it take a significant amount? If a zombie dies and bleeds into a water supply will this infect anyone who drinks from this water supply? Has adequate testing been done in this area? What is the incubation period for infection? Will a soldier who has been infected have time to end his life via chemical or other means?

Apparently zombification is not transferable to animals, although there have been.. suspicious reports of rats. As we have live zombies in our custody, I suggest acquiring an adequate supply of rats and blood and attempting infection in a controlled environment (provided infection can be transferred by blood and this is known to be so for humans). This will potentially give us a supply of animals to run further tests on in addition to finding out more about the disease. If it is unknown whether infection is transferable via blood to humans, then obviously appropriate testing will need to be carried out on an... appropriate... subject. To those of you who say this is inhuman, I suggest you re-evaluate the situation. Surely there is some undesirable subject whom this can be tested on. If it is not transferable then the... patient will for obvious reasons have to be terminated quietly.

Has there been any clear indication of where this disease originated from? There were reports of "fast" "intelligent" zombies from a facility in Paraguay. Has this been investigated further? It is possible that this disease was originally a man made biological agent. I understand that this would be in violation of the EPA agreement of 2008 (?) however there is nothing to say that a rogue state or agency was not attempting to develop such an agent. Has there been ANY indication that this disease could become airborne? Have there been any documented cases of immunity from infection?

Im not sure what degree of planing has gone into providing protection for our soldiers so I propose the following in an initiative to prevent further loss of life to those serving on the front line.

1. If the appropriate armour, riot gear, and biological protection exists to provide full body protection from zombie attacks then: I suggest looking at setting up units with this gear armed with not only projectile weapons but also hand to hand combat (mele) weapons capable of bludgeoning a zombies cranium and thus effectively killing them. Additionally, I think it would be safe to assume that a zombie who's head has been removed will be more or less useless and will eventually die. If there is a suitable stockpile, or if they can be made by a blacksmith, then a light sword could be issued to these troops and appropriate training given.

These troops could be used in a manner similar to modern riot squads and the Roman Legions (ie rotating lines whilst providing a solid front. Also allowing protection from attack from all sides.

As the worry of attack from projectile weapons has diminished all but entirely (unless zombies have learned the use of firearms and have a suitable arsenal), there seems to be very little point in the continuation of warfare via "conventional" means. Instead we should look to the ways of old for suitable tactics to engage the enemy in hand to hand combat. This will ensure a saving of ammunition and that soldiers will not be outclassed in mele combat by our enemy's. Even if this is not to be used as a primary form of attack and defence, then at the least with the appropriate training it will give units and individual soldiers a fighting chance when they have no other option.

If Zombie blood also infects then this could potentially cause an issue if uniforms are not 100% biologically safe. Kinda kit which would be needed is as follows:

Kevlar "plated" Gloves, Pants, and shirt (long sleeves, shoulders, and underarms protected, chest and back not) Riot Vests (kevlar plated also)
Suitable Riot/Military boots.
Suitable full faced helmet, enclosed with breathing apparatus required if disease is blood-borne.
Possibly also Riot Shields.
All gear would have to be suitable for protection of biological or at least pathogens (fluid/blood) should the disease infect through these methods (think seamless design).

As for the Dart Frog Idea. At the most, it is worth looking into should there be a readily available source which is easy (and safe) to acquire. Then tested appropriately on captured zombies (or more appropriately infected rats should my idea above be approved and successful). We should not waste resources on an acquiring what could be a difficult source of poison when it has as yet been untested.

Furthermore: No able bodied person should be excluded from "military" service. Considering the threat we face and the surety of annihilation of the human race should we fail, all able bodied people should submit to mandatory military service and training. This will boost our ranks of forces to a degree that will hopefully allow effective rotation of our fighting forces allowing needed down time for soldiers who would otherwise be overwhelmed by the constant drain of active service.

I don't know much about the infection, and there is alot of information to scan through, but as far as I can tell, zombie bites infect, and you have low resources and population.

For the suggestion of sending civilians to fight, we should, but we should also keep to the regular rules of signing up, no children and no teenagers, no ill or disabled people, though we should give them some kind of way to defend themselves, perhaps small firearms in the case of an emergency.

As far as I can tell, poison could work, some poisons are designed to target specific organs, I don't know many types of poison, but we could make a poison that directly targets the brain.

Have we got any Zombie corpses? If we could experiment on the virus, we may eventually form a cure, or maybe a secondary virus that destroys the brain, and unleash it on the zombies, of course, we would need somewhere secluded and secure to do these experiments, to avoid large casualties in the case of a breakout.

I'm sorry I can't be of more help, but like I said, I don't have much information.

DON'T F'ing make him an IRC!!! He chooses what he wants to be, and even be a halfer.

And zef, the slower dumber zombies can learn firearms use, because a horde can learn help each other learn.
The fast zombie is an advancement of the hordes.
Deep wounds caused by zombies = infection.
Duass the game master, said "Animals die from the infection, and DON'T reanimate."

So zombies can make demon-like zombies, like the zomborg's Abomination for example.
We need to monitor the free hordes, and their discoveries.

Sorry, what? Stop taking words out of Dauss's mouth. He never said they can learn firearms use.

Guys! There's a zombie threat to be dealt with!

Seriously, if we fight we're all going to die, and then come back, and kill other people. And we don't want that.

Right, if we're going to win this, we need a proper strategy. We'll have to drive back zombie forces that are attacking our bases first. If we leave that till later, the infection will take the soldiers from those bases and we'll end up with more than we can handle. We'll need people to scout for lone zombies, as any contact with one zombie could result in an epidemic through a base. Any zombies found, animated or not, must be cordoned off within 10 metres, and strong, industrial-strength bleach must be put inside the cordon to prevent infection.

Doing these smaller tasks will allow us to build up supplies, regroup, and form better plans.

Alternatively, we could find a way to separate our brains from out bodies and take to space, in this, our darkest hour.

slow down there, reddy.

what we need are some tactical missles. not nuclear, but SCUD missles. fire them at areas which are completely taken by zombies. then, their attacking forces will not be backed up by the missle'd zombies, weakening them. then we should form an Extermination Corps, to slowly but surely eliminate the zombie threat.
