Post Overclock 1.8GHZ to 2.1GHZ
I just used clockgen to OC my AMD Sempron 3400+ Code Name Manila from 1.8ghz to 2.1. I am using air cooling only and my house is quite warm 70F+ is it safe and how much will this decrease the lifespan of my computer?

I have heard that Semprons are famous for there ability to oc.

Info on processor
Name: AMD Semperon 3400+
Code Name: Manila
Package: Socket AM2 (940)
Technology: 90nm
Core Voltage: 1.4V
Core Speed: 2102.6 MHZ
Multiplier: x9.0
Bus Speed: 233.6
HT Link: 934.5

Also speed fan reports the cpu at 80C and internal temp at 135C while Hmonitor only reports 35C I am hoping that speed fan is reporting things wrong.

Anyways is my overclock safe and should I dare to push it further how far do you think it could go on air cooling?

Overclocking is all based on the motherbored. If you cant even change the fsb and voltages in the motherbored, then i dont think you will beable to overclock,

And speedfan, the 125 temp is it seeing something wrong, 35 temp is most likely some inside case temp, and the 80 is the right temp .. look at http://www.alcpu.com/CoreTemp/

I posted this on GT and im already running at 2.1GHZ going for 2.5 soon
I found out speedfan is dead wrong your coretemp program is showing 28C - 30C currently and I ran a cpu stress test for 10 mins and the highest it reached was 49C my mobo is nvidia nforce 410/430 MCP

Time for some gmod then im going up to 2.5 My computer is healthy yay!

The only thing is Clockgen overclocks my ram when it overclocks my cpu so I hope I dont hit the limit for ram speed im preatty sure I read somewhere that I can go up to 500 - 600 mhz now im in the 300 range so I should be good.

Also the results I ran from a benchmark
1.8GHZ - Registry Operations 720.3 Floating point operations 700.3 integer operations 3601.4 overall 3729.5
2.1ghz - Registry Operations 813.2 Floating point operations 787.8 integer operations 4201.7 overall 4316.9

Damn, it became unstable at 2.5 explorer.exe restarted and mobo was beeping at me I down clocked to 2.0 then back up to 2.3 it seems stable at 2.3 I think that is as far as I will push it.

Well, I heard that Intel's Core 2s OCing capability totally outshines AMD's comparable processors. I've been meaning to OC my 6400 2.13 GHz but I've been too chicken. My PC is practically air conditioning for me feet at the moment, though....

Overclocking new processors is pointless, dangerous, and not worth the trouble.

The main value in overclocking is the ability to overclock old hardware to make it run faster without the need for expensive part upgrades (aside from some cooling parts like active fans).

Overclocking a new C2D board is just retarded.

Its not about fun.

It's about ruining a brand new chipset. That's okay, though, cause I'm sure none of you guys actually have to pay for your equipment. Mommy and daddy just throw it at you and say have fun.

Well if you're smart and do your research (as it is obvious you did not), overclocking is a perfectly viable way to get extra cycles for free.

Hell, my motherboard was designed for it and shipped with tools to do it safely. And guess what, it is fun for some people. If you're not comfortable with it, I can totally understand that, because I actually did pay for every piece of computer equipment on my desk.

Not my stuff, i build computers for my job. And part of the things i do is stress test the computer physicaly (no.. not with a baseball bat) i overclock it and i run it to see were it is stable and unstable. i see what temp it will go down before it auto shutdowns (as set in the bios). I run it on default clocks at 100% load for 3-4 days straight to see if it crashes. if all is good then they get it. if it crashes to easy, either i will underclock it or tell them to to upgrade whatever is casuing the error.

I have to be careful because I don't want to ruin the family computer by ocing it to death. But at 2.3 GHz it is running smooth and stable with a moderate performance boost. (Faster Load Times and 5-10 fps boost in games)

Also I accidentally overclocked my pcie and pci slots by like 1 or 2mhz the default is 100mhz for pcie and 30 for pci right? because I read somewhere that it offers no performance boost so I set them back to what I think was the default value.
