Open your wallpaper in photoshop then Layer > Flatten Image It will make the area around your icon text transparent instead of black. Just remember to save after you flatten it and re apply it as your paper. :P

NVM I thought thats what was causing the problem. If it is a problem. If you have an flattened png it does that.

New desktop. I cleaned it up so that my old desktop (I had 2 icon spaces left) is in the Desktop 1 folder.

That's exactly the same thing I do, though I sure it disgusts you to have anything in common with me.
I'm currently on 1 and 3/4 desktops.

Lul, use Ubuntu, can have multiple desktops simultaneously.
My desktop doesn't really change, although I recently changed my background image a bit.
